Pratham Skilling Team suggests the steps that can be taken by schools and educational institutions to make the School to Work (STW) transition smoother for the youth in an article published by World Economic Forum.

 

We had our National Review at Aurangabad, Maharashtra in the second week of November. Program Teams and State Teams from across the country met to discuss different themes like student and staff retention, donor management and fundraising, and data to mention a few.

Annual Review 2022

 

In the second week of November, Pratham Skilling held its annual review in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The review saw the coming together of Program and State teams from all across the country to assess the year gone by, also to look ahead and forge a strong path for the future. The sessions on myriad themes spread across 5 days left all of us enthused and stimulated, to implement our takeaways.

 

How can India prepare its youth for the future of work? Here's what's needed now

 

Only 5% of the workforce in India are recognized as formally skilled. Factors like information asymmetry, lack of access to training, and the lack of dignity associated with different forms of work make the school to work transition challenging for youth. With the NEP recommending ideas for smoother school to work transition, the Pratham Skilling Team suggests enhancing opportunities for career awareness, providing experiential learning, and allowing credit transferability from formal to informal sources of training to make the transition smoother.

Employment Guarantee during COVID-19

The report by Azim Premji University presents survey findings from Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. It provides empirical evidence on the impact of MGNREGA during the COVID-19 pandemic and reports that the wages earned under it helped compensating 20%-80% of the income loss during lockdown.
