A plenary indulgence (removal of all temporary consequences of sin, i.e. time in purgatory) is granted to the faithful who make a visit to a parish church on the Solemnity of its Title, and there devoutly recite an Our Father and the Creed. Standard conditions apply: a firm dedication to stop sinning, sacramental confession, Eucharistic Communion, and prayer for the intentions of the Pope. Saint James the apostle is normally celebrated every year on July 25, but any parish named after Saint James has special permission to move the feast to the nearest Sunday and celebrate it as a Solemnity (memorial is the lowest type of celebration, feast is next, solemnity is highest). So, come and join us this Sunday at the only Catholic parish named after Saint James in the state of Florida and hit the purgatory time reset button!
