Soulful Seeds Monthly Newsletter |

- The Soulful Seeds Garden at St. Mary’s is planted and filled with cool weather crops. Community members from Crossroads worked to get crops in the ground and are helping us with general maintenance.
- Over the last month, we completed 32 raised beds at the Soulful Seeds Garden at Our Place, giving us a total of 1,024 square feet of growing space!
- We began soil screening our crop fields. Plan B hauled their small tractor to the Garden at Our Place to get the job done. Unfortunately, we need heavier equipment to break through the hardpan, remove the large rocks, and incorporate our soil amendments. If you or someone you know can volunteer the time and equipment to get this done, please contact our team.
- Volunteers logged 295.5 hours of service in April in support of our mission. Volunteer time contributed to construction, planting, maintenance, and watering.

We celebrated Earth Day in the Soulful Seeds Garden at Our Place with 47 volunteers from across the Washoe County community. Together with volunteers, we built and filled 11 of our 32 raised garden beds, cleared stones, and provided seedlings to anyone who stopped by to make a donation. A huge shout out to Jay Rathmann, Owner and Executive Chef of BJ’s Barbecue Company, who brought the heavy equipment and coordinated a team of local chefs to help with the work. Thank you to everyone who came out that day, especially those who stuck around a few extra hours to get the job done! |

Soulful Seeds was selected as a non-profit partner for Jack Johnson’s 2022 tour! Each year, Jack Johnson chooses several local non-profit partners to feature on the green during each night of his tour to promote positive and lasting community change. We were selected as his non-profit partner for the September 4 and 5 tour dates at Harvey’s in Tahoe. Being a selected partner means you can find us promoting our mission at his concert. It also comes with an opportunity to raise $2,500, which the Johnson Ohana Foundation will match dollar for dollar. We are asking you to help us raise $2,500 over the next several months. You can donate here and note "JJ Matching" to double each dollar of your contribution. |

StoneGate graciously offered to kick off our 2022 fundraising campaign with a Cinco de Mayo themed mixer on May 5. The StoneGate team is passionate about our mission of supporting people with the greatest need in our community. They introduced us to their colleagues and allowed us to share our mission and funding needs. We aim to host many more funding receptions throughout the year. Please contact our team if you or your business would like to host a funding reception on our behalf. |
