| | Bryn Du in the 1940s Thank you to local resident, John Frick, who very thoughtfully brought us some historical documents this past month! As a result we now know that Bryn Du owner Sallie Jones Sexton gave up the retail milk business in 1943 to supply milk to the V-12 Naval Unit, which was stationed at Denison University as part of the war efforts. Mr. Frick's grandfather, Jack Parker, was the esteemed head stableman at Bryn Du for many years. Thank you for sharing your treasured information, John! | | |

To our Bryn Du family, For those who have not yet heard, it is with incredible sadness that we announce that our sweet Quincy dog has passed on. To our work companion, confidant, lunch buddy, tour guide, mascot, protector, guardian of Bryn Du, art dog, and absolute best friend, thank you for your unconditional love and loyalty. You will be missed more than words can express. Thank you for indulging us by reading Quincy's column here every month therefore helping us to celebrate his importance at Bryn Du and in our community. We enjoyed taking you inside his head on special adventures around the property, and we'd like to think that a lot of what Quincy wrote was pretty accurate to how he would actually be thinking and feeling! We plan to honor Quincy at Bryn Du with a memorial bench for all to enjoy, as well as with additional outside enhancements in his name. Please enjoy this beautifully written article by the Newark Advocate's Abbey Roy about Quincy. We cannot thank her enough. Rest in peace, sweet friend. With love, Bruce, Athena and Angela Photo courtesy of Anne Ciotola Photography. |
