We are in the middle of the dog days of summer. Kids are getting ready or are already back in school – either virtually or in person. Major league baseball is playing games with cardboard cutouts in the stands. College football is up for grabs. Nothing is like we expected. So, we think it’s time for a little bit of good news.

Take me Out to the Ball Game

Our mission of celebrating the life and legacy of Jason through giving has taken us to the ball field, specifically the new Alfred A. McKethan Field at the University of Florida.

We are excited to announce that through a generous donation from the Jason Beaird Memorial Foundation, the visiting Bullpen at the University of Florida’s new baseball stadium will be known as the Jason Beaird Memorial Bullpen.

Jason played baseball for the Gators. He was an infielder and SEC Academic honor roll member for each of his two seasons on the team.

Baseball and the Gators were important to Jason, and we are so excited that we can keep his memory alive through naming this Bullpen.

In addition to naming the Bullpen, Jennifer Beaird and fellow board member Ted Rich, who also played baseball for the Gators, both made personal donations to name two side by side lockers in the Gator’s home baseball locker room -- one for Jason and one for Ted.

The new stadium will open in the Spring of 2021.  Although the original date of the onsite ribbon cutting was delayed due to COVID, we hope a new date will be held prior to opening.  Once we know more, we will share those details with our JBMF Friends and Family. In the meantime, we wanted to share this very exciting news.
