Brought to you today by our very own mission trip chef-extraordinaire and devoted sister in Christ - Kathy Ortiz!
I was nervous about going on a mission trip to Haiti. I wondered, “Would God really protect us?” Once we arrived in Haiti, my first thought was, “These kids (in the orphanage) are so joyful!” What is it they have? I was on this trip to lead Vacation Bible School. It was not about what I came to teach them but what they were going to teach me.
The main thing they taught me was about relationship with God. In Joshua 1:9 it says that God will be with me wherever I go. What a relief! What freedom to know that I don’t have to worry about anything.
God knows what I need even before I know myself.
In Haiti there are many dangerous things that can happen. Having God on your side gives you great peace and joy.Proverbs 16:9 says a man may make a plan but the Lord directs his steps. Hhmm…. So if I make a plan with God, he will show me which way to go? Fantastic!“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. They are plans for good & not disaster, to give you a future and a hope. When you pray, I will listen. Jeremiah 29:11-12. In Haiti, people pray a lot!! They know God will listen and they talk to him about everything. This is how relationship is built.
