American Canyon Arts Foundation, April 2019

Our Art Extravaganza will be at the SpringHill Suites Resort.  The Show opens Friday, April 5 and closes on Sunday, April 7. The official hours of the exhibit is 11am to 5pm, but you can view the art during regular hotel hours.

This year we have artists from throughout the Bay Area. With almost 50 entries in the show, there will be plenty for everyone.  Awards will be given for the top 3 entries per category, with a Best of Show also awarded.  Of course, our patrons will be able to vote for "People's Choice."

The Artist Reception is Saturday, April 6, from 5:30 to 7:30pm. In addition to recognizing our artists and announcing the winning entries, we will also have a Silent Auction, wine and appetizers.  The reception is hosted by SpringHill Suites, which is also one of our two Premier Sponsors.  The other is the American Canyon Tourism Improvement District.

On Saturday we will also have our Community Mosaic Art project.  Artists and non-artists alike will be able to help build the tile mural that will be installed onto our new Boys & Girls Club Building in American Canyon. For more, see below, or go to our website.

And we also want to thank our sponsors for the Silent Auction.

Community Mosaic Art Project

We kicked off our Community Mosaic Art Project during the City's Spring Celebration event, March 23.  We announced the winning design, and started building our first tiled segments. For more on our kick-off event, click here.

Our next "tiling" session will be combined with our Art Extravaganza, Saturday, April 6 from 11am to 5pm, at the SpringHill Suites Resort.  Spend some time and put together pieces of the mosaic.  Ultimately, it will be assembled into the overall mural and then installed at our new Boys and Girls Club building in American Canyon.

If you can't make it this Saturday, we'll also be at AmCan By the Bay, on April 13, from 10am to 2pm, at the City's Wetlands Edge Park.

Strategic Plan Workshop

Starting with a spirited discussion at the February Board meeting, the Board of Directors agreed to hold a special Membership Meeting in May to discuss the strategic direction of the Foundation, as well as priorities the Foundation should focus on during the next 3-5 years.

Although the specific details haven't been set, we wanted our members to know they will receive an invitation to attend.

This is a great opportunity to redefine ACAF and become a more vibrant organization.

ROBERT JOHNSON AT THE WELCOME CENTER

Long time Board member, Robert Johnson, is our featured artist for April. The Welcome Center is part of the Chamber of Commerce, located at 3860 Broadway (Hwy 29) in American Canyon.
