Dare I say - with fingers firmly crossed - that I welcome you with a glimmer of bright, shining, travelling light at the end of the long, dark, pandemic tunnel.
Despite recent media attempts to scare the living daylights out of the most stalwart of travellers, the recently published roadmap out of lockdown has provided a much-needed confidence boost, with the news that hopefully by midsummer, overseas travel restrictions may have been lifted.
A nation sighs.
January and February would historically find me working long days all week servicing the busiest booking period of the year. It’s been a little different this year, of course, but whilst much of my time is still focused on clients with existing bookings requiring advice and reassurance, I’m also very happy to report a healthy increase in demand for travel from the latter part of 2021; something - given the recent announcement - that I anticipate accelerating.
It has given me enormous pleasure to return to my favourite part of being a travel agent.
I’ve had an eclectic mix of enquiries, ranging from outdoor Scottish adventures and touring Australia to lots of delayed wedding and honeymoon plans which seems to suggest that true love has conquered all, through these dark times.
Island destinations are understandably in high demand, with Mauritius and the Seychelles featuring large with cracking discounts available for booking ahead.
If you aspire to travel later this year, next year or even 2023, it would be wise to secure your booking as soon as possible on a fully flexible basis as there is already a scarcity of flight and hotel availability for the key holiday periods, meaning - predictably - that the longer you leave it, the higher price you’ll pay.
I have booked mine, and guess what, it feels GREAT!
I am conducting online appointments via Zoom for those who would like to discuss making up for lost time.
Online meetings have also provided two more high points in the recent dismal winter months with my Lapland presentation being warmly received at my latest Facebook Live session with Jackie Lee’s Fairy Godmother Program and my awesome cookalong with Masterchef winner Shelina Permalloo.
March sees my debut online client event - An Introduction to Japan - which I am eagerly anticipating.
Thanks as always for your brilliant support. Please stay safe and I look forward to speaking to lots of you in the not too distant future.
