The Birds!

Now is the time to be thinking about putting up bird boxes in the hope of attracting a feathered family in the spring.

We have 2 types of bird boxes available, the first with a 30mm hole that is suitable for the Tit family and the second with a wider oblong entrance suitable for Robins...although it can be a surprise who actually moves in!

Included with your bird box you will also get an information leaflet to ensure the bird box is placed in the best place to attract visitors.

The bird boxes can either be collected from Bugthorpe Shop or delivered to your door for you, they both cost £5 and you are more than welcome to order more than one type. Alternatively, if you don't wish to put up your own bird box, but still want to support the project, you can sponsor a bird box for £5 and we will put it up in the village for you and inform you of its place, so you can visit it in spring to check on its activity if you wish.

If you live in the village you will have received an order form through your door, which you can hand in to Bugthorpe Shop or scan in and email to bugthorevillage@gmail.com.

Alternatively there is an order form on the website that you can fill out, please note if you wish to receive more than 1 type you will need to fill it out and submit for each one.

The Bees!

Later in the spring we will have wildflower seeds available for you to place to attract bees and other nectar loving insects. This will work really well alongside the school's project to plant a wildflower meadow, so you can join them and start thinking of where you can sow your wildflower seeds!

These flowers will include Cornflowers, Oxeye Daisies, Corn Marigold, Sunflower and Cosmos.

You can keep an eye out on our website for more information on this coming soon!
