My Mother's Day

With Mother’s Day coming up- the single moms out there may be having an array of emotions on how they want to celebrate - will the kids give presents , etc. To take the stress off for me and kids - I always plan a special outing that I really want to do with my children. This Sunday we will pile all the dogs into the car and head down to the lake for a good tromp in the beach dog park , then grab sushi and dumplings from the great Asian store there and then- to the gardening store on the way home. My sons gift to me will be digging the holes I’ll need to plant the blueberry shrubs I’ve been scouting. The perfect day and gift - easy for all - and a great time with our dogs. Think about what you’d like to do - have it planned out ahead of time

What Happened?

Clients ask me all the time," what happened?, how did I not see the signs?, why did things change?, how could this have gotten so ugly?"  And then
my assistant, Tamar, came across this article. Turtles and tortoises are my very favourite animals. We have 3 box turtles (two I've raised from 1 month old, the other a rescue).
As I do not always have the answers for my clients as to why their relationship fell apart, neither do these zookeepers know what happened with these tortoises, but as they knew how to support each of them moving forward, I focus on how to help my clients move forward and find their Happy Place.
A light article to start out Spring with all the possibilities this season brings with it.

I'm a firm believer in the benefits of

Nature Therapy (Ecotherapy)

Here are some more information and

ideas of how you can get yours:)

Nature Therapy (Ecotherapy) Is Medicine

I speak so often to clients about the benefits of spending time in nature, even if living in a very urban environment. I have helped many pull out a map of where they live and start a list of parks, trails, arboretums, even lush plant stores that will give them the boost we all need of seeing, hearing and touching NATURE. I have read much on this subject and, personally, I spent hours in my local ravine, headphones OFF, healing me through my own separation. This article is brilliant. Give yourself the gift of taking the time to read it and implement. I can certainly work with you to find places and ways to weave the prescription of Nature Therapy into your daily life.

The benefits are amazing and it's FREE!!!!

Urban Ecotherapy

Let’s be honest - many of us live in cities, and this can seem like a barrier to getting some true nature time. But even in urban areas, there are so many hidden nature gems to be found - parks, ravines, trails, the list goes on. This article has some great suggestions to get you started.
It's been proven, spending time in Nature is free therapy. I beg clients to trust me and try it. The results are amazing. This is the best time of year to start. Within two weeks, it can become a habit- continue through Summer and Fall then don't stop when Winter sets in. Just buy the right clothing (great boots, coats, hats, mitts, scarves and even pull on crampons- spikes for your shoes to tromp over ice). Winter is actually my favourite season to get out there. Besides getting out in the beautiful snow, it is always so very quiet. Get out there and then please send me feedback to let me know how it feels.

Ecotherapy at Home

Nature Therapy works to calm the mind and soul. Bringing plants into your home gives you that nature boost within your own sanctuary. I love having my plants growing in water ( bamboo & pathos) adding in easy macrame to hang them. For better sleep add a Snake Plant to your bedroom - they take in oxygen during the day and release at night for a better sleep (I have 3 in my room). My bright kitchen window lets me grow my herbs indoors year round. The stairwell landing has enough space to get in more greenery. Most my containers were picked up from secondhand stores while many of my plants came from cuttings from others. Yes they do need care, but my time watering gives me a short quiet time nurturing. Best part is they all detoxify the indoor air. Spider plants are one of the best for this. If you just don’t have time to get out to nature - bring it home to you.

I love to hear stories on how others fill themselves with

Nature Therapy (Ecotherapy)

Please feel free to send me yours!
