Fall nights are so good for my soul...the longer nights...not so much. I am fairly certain I suffer from seasonal affective disorder, or SAD. The last few years, with injuries keeping me from running I just got into a deep funk. Then add on the harsh Iowa winters, I was just not myself. I have made a promise to myself that I would focus on the positive and the things that I do on a regular basis that help keep me sane...to keep doing them. I did make a big purchase after doing some research and seeing a few people I follow in Instagram use this product. **Keep scrolling and reading to find out!** Harvest around our home is just about finished and the dust is slowly starting to settle. Somewhat fitting to our lives right now. The kids are busy with school, I started a new church service on Wednesday nights and our fall litters are starting to arrive. I am currently writing this at 4:00 a.m. because somehow the hours in the day just seem to disappear? Anyone else? This weekend, I will be heading to Des Moines to run in the IMT Half-Marathon. I had initially signed up for the full, but having to take almost six weeks off during July & August...it just wasn't feasible. I sent a message to my friend who is physical therapist and made an appointment for after my race. I told her I wanted to spend the winter rehabbing my injuries so I can continue to run. Getting old really stinks. Here is to the remainder of October flying by, the anticipation of the Christmas season coming & lots of puppies at our house! ~Elly |

What I am Reading & Watching |
|
|
| | Book #14 and it keeps getting better. With each book, a new murder is solved and the relationships and the stories that are woven throughout it. It references some of the cases in the previous books and the characters continue to deepen. If you read this series, make sure you start at the beginning. | | |

| | Wade's toxic trait...binge watching an extra season after I go to bed. Last week, we started watching Season 3 in preparation for watching the last season...we were on episode 2. I went to bed at 10:00 p.m. and Wade heading outside to finish up the chores. He came back in and watched the rest. He stayed up till 3:00 a.m. When will he ever learn? | | |

Red Light Therapy. This particular machine I got is ideal for skin health, increased blood flow, enhanced recovery, improved mental clarity, pain relief, sleep optimization and more! Additional research has shown it is suppose to help with what I like to call the winter blues. I have been using it for 20-30 minutes a day while I get my daily reading and Bible Study in. I will let you know my thoughts on it next month.

The kids have started an Introduction to Dog Obedience class with Nash and Junior. The instructor gave the kids a clicker on the first day of class. I had heard of this training method and did some research. For us and our family, it just isn't ideal. Main reason...we lost them! LOL. But really though, the kids had been training those two first about 3 weeks, 2xs a day for 15 minutes and adding in the clicker was confusing to both of them. I am going to attach an article and video that I have shown Sydney & Jackson. There are lots of different training methods, and sometimes it takes trying a few different ones before you find the one that best fits you and your dog. |

When we send puppies home, we send a sample of our favorite pet shampoo from Monat. I signed up to be a Market Partner 5 years ago when they launched and believe in all their products 100% I used their haircare and skincare line. So does Sydney and Jackson. Wade still uses Melaleuca...it's about the only thing that gets piggy smells out, LOL! If you are interested in getting some or the spray, here is a link.
