Due to COVID-19 and the insecurity in Haiti, we haven't been able to host our yearly Summer English Immersion Program since 2019. But this year, we came back better than ever! Even though we couldn't send American English teachers, we were able to hire graduates of our high school who have excelled in speaking English to assist our Haitian English teachers. These graduates were valuable members of this program because they have experienced it first hand and knew exactly how things should be done! The Summer Immersion Program is different from our typical English classes during the school year because it focuses on improving conversation skills, rather than just grammar and vocabulary. The students do activities like debates, talent shows, games and so much more that help them practice English, but have fun while doing so! The curriculum consisted of virtual English lessons from our past American English teachers, which made the students feel like they had their friends from the United States there, even if we couldn't be there physically. |

A special thanks to our Program Coordinator, Pascal Dure, IPEPH graduate of 2018. Our teachers, Nestor Surin, Emile Andral, Bryann Saul Duffault, and Doris Prevost, IPEPH graduate of 2019. Our assistants, Ritchy Kernes Domingue, IPEPH graduate of 2019 and Francky Jean, IPEPH graduate of 2018. As well as our American English Teachers, Alyssa Schrage, Catherine Bohren, Isabella Blackburn, Mary Margaret Warren, Rose Tarwater and Talah Allos. We often get asked, "Why English?" and that is a great question! English is the International business language and in order for our students to get the best jobs, they need to be fluent in English. We also believe that Haiti's future isn't with France, geographically it makes much more since to work more closely with the U.S. and Canada. These factors, among others, are why we place such a strong emphasis on our students' English proficiency. You can find more information about our efforts to improve education below. | | |
