This Week in INXS History

Monday, 03 September 1990

The third of September, 1990, saw the release of ‘Suicide Blonde’, the first single off of INXS’ forthcoming album X. The title of the song was inspired by Michael’s girlfriend Kylie Minogue, and the signature harmonica sound is from legendary blues player Charlie Musselwhite.

The B-side of the single featured the track ‘Everybody Wants U Tonight.’  ‘Suicide Blonde’ would reach number two in Australia, number nine in the United States, number 11 in the United Kingdom, and number one in Canada and New Zealand. And of course, the song would inspire legions of fans everywhere: Don’t you know what you're doing?
