Lunch and Brunch

As we move into April, some of the lunch deals are coming to an end.

Happily there are some new ones to take their place. Of particular note are some amazing deals at Cafe Nuga such as a full lamprais platter for Rs550, or a selection of five hoppers, chicken or fish and dahl for Rs600.

Some deals may be extended though' we were told this morning that Cinnamon Lakeside are extending the "pay for 3 and a 4th person eats free" offer at the Dining Room buffet through April, which is good news. This is available 12pm to 3pm from Wednesdays to Saturdays.

The Mandarina has several good lunch deals but the set menu Thali and Chinese lunches at Mandarina are due to end on 9th April, so enjoy them this week. Happily they are keeping the "two dishes for 999" offer for the time being.

HighTea and Dinner:

There's another new high tea in town, this one from the Ramada who's extensive High Tea is available on Fridays and Saturdays from 3pm to 6pm priced at Rs1900 per person.

On to dinners and Taj Samudra have launched an Avurudu Carnival. This festival of food will be held on the lawns and offers a wide range of Sri Lankan food. Available nightly from 6pm to 11pm, from 2nd to 11th April.

Cinnamon Lakeside have extended the "pay for 3 and a 4th person eats free" offer at their daily Dining Room International Buffet too, through to the end of April.

On Saturdays, Momo Lanka have a Sri Lankan Street Food night, with an "all you can eat" offer for just Rs990.

This Saturday 3rd April, t-Lounge by Dilmah are holding a celebration of Sri Lankan food featuring hoppers, curries, desserts and more. This will be at their One Galle Face restaurant, from 6pm.

Happy Hours & Ladies' Night

Wednesdays are clearly the nights for ladies with no less than FIVE venues hosting a ladies' nights, while most days there are only one or two. So there might be a few hangovers on Thursday mornings... The latest Wednesday Ladies Night is at Ace Pub in Nawala and is now going to be a regular event, along with live music.

On Thursday 1st April Le Papillon has a 2-for-1 Strawberry Mojitos offer, just for ladies.  This is accompanied by live music from Shane and Shehan. There's also Mojito Thursday at Breeze Bar, five mojitos available by the  glass or the pitcher.

Not a Happy Hour as such but a tasting session: t-Lounge by Dilmah are offering a tasting session of their signature tea-based cocktails, for Rs2000. Available every day until 9th April, from 11am to 2pm and 5pm to 10pm, at t-Lounge, One Galle Face .

For one night only there's a special cocktail experience at the Long Bar available only on 1st April: put on a helmet, take a shot and get hit on the helmet with a hammer. If you want to give it try, it's at your own risk!

Live Music & DJs

Most of the usual Friday and Saturday gigs will be taking place as normal, with The Notion, Rock This Country, Aquarius and Warehouse Project at their usual Friday and Saturday spots.

Warehouse Project are back at Asylum this Friday, The Diary are at Darley Road, Cold Sweat will be at Sunset Bu, Ishini and the Branch at Re.pub.lk and Magic Box Mixup at Curve Bar.

On Saturday, Redeemers are at Sunset Blu, Magic Box Mixup at Re.pub.lk and Damian & the D-Zone will be at Curve Bar.

There's several great DJ parties this weekend as well, starting with True Love Friday at the Love Bar and The Attic with four DJs, Hitch, Fernando, Ace and Trev, on the decks through the evening.

On Saturday Level4 are hosting "Space Jam" with DJs Ace, Neco and Clifford Isaac. There's also space themed cocktails.

Also on Saturday it's "Strategic Movement" at Drunk Panda, with DJs Mushtaq, Dirk, A-Jay, Fernando and Chamara.

Other Events

On Thursday, there is the regular Salsa Night at Playtrix and the new Quiz Night at Butler's Pub.  There's also a Sports and Trivia quiz at the British Pub, from 7pm.

It's a big week for shopping! One Galle Face, with Colombo Fashion Week, are holding a Retail Week with a range of discounts and offers, until 9th April. It's also "No Plastic Week", so pick up your reusable bag and say No to single-use plastics.

It's a big weekend for pop up markets and bazaars too. Brew by Dilmah are hosting an Avurudu Market on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with different vendors each day - click the link for details.  Weekend Bazaar @570 is back on Saturday with a range of fashion, accessories, crafts, food and activities, from local vendors. And there's a Night Market at The Stables Park Street Mews on Saturday from 4pm to 10pm featuring a range of stalls from local vendors. 

It's Easter weekend and there's lots of lunches and brunches and dinners available: there's family brunches at Galadari; at Pranzo with a visit by the Easter Bunny; and a bubbly brunch at Verandah, with Easter egg hunt for the kids.

To continue into the evening, Kurumbar have an Easter buffet with wine and arrack starting from 3pm and continuing late.
