NEWS FROM MRS. TOBERGTE Dear St. Patrick Families, We had a fun morning of service, making tug toys for the animals at the Humane Society of Charlotte. In all we made over 300 toys and will also be able to donate all of the extra towels and shirts to them. We also had an incredibly successful Dress Down Day for the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte, raising $810 for them and also walking 534.2 miles as a school (including families who logged miles over the weekend--thank you!) to raise awareness for Down syndrome! We appreciate your generosity and support to make both of these special outreach projects a huge success. I hope you all have a very happy Easter. We were so blessed to spend the Lenten season together as a school community, in person, and we look forward to seeing you after the Easter break. God's Blessings, Amy Tobergte |

ATTENDANCE REMINDERS As we are revisiting carpool/walker reminders, we also wanted to take the opportunity to review some attendance notes. If your child needs to be picked up early from school, please send an email to their teacher and/or a note through backpack mail that morning. We ask that all students be dismissed no later than 2:15 pm to allow us to complete our end of day tasks. If your child will be absent for any reason, please send an email to their teacher and Mrs. O'Connor by 8:30 am on the morning of their absence. We are required to follow up on all absences if we do not have a note with a reason for the absence. |

CARPOOL/WALKER REMINDERS As we have had new families join the St. Patrick school family, it’s a great time to revisit our morning and afternoon carpool procedures. In the morning, please arrive between 7:00-8:00AM. Please do not park your car, but rather remain in the carline and allow a staff member to help your child exit the vehicle. After 8:00AM, your child is tardy and parents do need to park and escort their child to the main school entrance to be checked in with the front office. The afternoon car line begins at 2:40PM and ends at 3:10PM. Again, you will remain in your vehicle and allow a staff member to assist your child. Please do not park on the street and walk up to pick up your child—this is dangerous for children and staff. When entering the carpool line from Scott Ave. heading uptown, do not use Pierce as a cut through to drive straight across Kenilworth. Continue on Scott Ave to the light where Romany meets Kenilworth and make a u-turn to queue into the line. Additionally, do not park at the Rectory in the morning or afternoon. Those spots are reserved for church parishioners and are not to be used by the school. Parents picking up walkers need to wear a face mask while on the playground. There is no supervision of walkers by school staff after school dismisses. Walkers must live within walking distance of the school and have a signed permission form on file with the school office to be a walker. Thank you for your help with these procedures. |

EO 180 & EXEMPTION FORM On Wednesday, you received an email from Superintendent Monroe regarding MACS compliance with EO 180. As you know, our current health-safety protocols are working as intended and expected, and our collective diligence has kept our school community healthy and in school thus far. We have successfully prioritized the use of face coverings in developmentally appropriate ways, and in ways which preserve a normal learning experience for our students. Thank you all so very much for partnering with us throughout this ever-evolving journey. At St. Patrick, we have students wear face coverings if they are working collaboratively, if they are moving throughout the school building, or if they are in a situation where they are not able to socially distance. Our students and staff have done an incredible job adhering to these policies. Moving forward, students and staff will be required to wear their face coverings at all times, except for when teachers provide students with breaks from their masks (only when students are socially distanced), during lunch, and during outdoor activities when social distancing is possible. Families may claim an exemption from EO180 by signing and returning the exemption form below; however, the exemption would pertain only to new uses of face coverings. All students will be required to continue to use face coverings in the manner in which we are currently utilizing them. |

BACKGROUND CHECKS & PROTECTING GOD'S CHILDREN Any parent who would like to volunteer in their child's classroom, on field trips, for parties or even come to lunch with their student must have completed Protecting God's Children and a background check. Create an account on www.virtusonline.org. You may take the online class. You will then be directed to create an account with Sterling and enter your information for a background check. Once you have completed the PGC class, you are required to keep up to date on monthly bulletins to stay active. Please contact Dawn O'Connor with any questions. |

SCHOOL MASS SCHEDULE Please remember to check the calendar and school Mass schedule each week. Students must wear their Mass uniforms on the Fridays that their class goes to Mass. Boys must wear long pants and girls must wear the jumper (K-3) or kilt (4-5). As of now Mass is limited to only our students and staff in that we are asking parents not to attend Mass. We only allow 3 students per pew, and they are spaced out for social distancing. Students are seated with their class, not with prayer partners. The church is sanitized with the aerosolized sanitizing machine before and after Mass, which effectively kills virus and bacteria within 5 minutes of spraying. Masks are optional since the students are socially distanced, but if a parent asks a teacher for their child to wear their mask, we are enforcing that. Only children receiving communion are out of their seats, and they are socially distanced on a kneeler 2 at a time. Father and Deacon sanitize their hands in between each Communion offering, and students are able to take the Host by mouth or by hand. |
