Dear Students and Supporters
Please watch the video attached to this message. It contains important information on the progress of Colegio Chicano del Pueblo and what that means for each student enrolled.
At this point, over 500 people from across the country have enrolled in Colegio Chicano del Pueblo. We have held a faculty meeting and are moving forward with designing courses and building the curriculum.
The biggest breakthrough this week has been finalizing our agreement with Prescott College. This agreement creates a formal relationship that will allow students from CCP to receive up to 32 college credits from Prescott College’s prior learning assessment process. Below this is a list of services Prescott College is guaranteeing to Colegio Chicano del Pueblo and its students.
PRESCOTT COLLEGE will:
- Award up to 32 transfer credits to applicants from MeXicanos 2070 if the following conditions are met:
- receive admission into Prescott College and enroll
- Participate in the Prior Learning Assessment course and follow the Conversion Portfolio procedure to certify these credits. An enrollment of 4 credits in Prior learning Assessment allows up to 16 awarded credits from MeXicanos 2070; an enrollment of 8 credits in Prior Learning Assessment allows up to 32 awarded credits from MeXicanos 2070.
- Assign a dedicated Admissions Counselor to inquiries and applicants from MeXicanos 2070
- Provide scholarship opportunities for all MeXicanos 2070 applicants. This may result in a discount off published tuition, depending on the degree program, see Prescott College website for further details.
- Provide opportunities to MeXicanos 2070 to post employment, internship, and volunteer opportunities through Prescott College’s Career Services Office.
This exciting partnership and the potential educational benefits it brings to our community across the board should not be dismissed.
