To be honest, this month was slow reading for me. I had exams, meetings, and events, so it was really hard to stay motivated to read with such a busy schedule.
I did have a few new books lying on my shelf however, so after a long day of studying I simply picked up the first one I saw, which happened to be "Woven in Moonlight," by Isabel Ibañez.
Now I was ready to dedicate a half, maybe even one hour to reading, before continuing my work, but once I got past the first chapter, I just had to keep going.
"Woven in Moonlight" is set in a breathtaking world richly inspired by Bolivia, and we follow Ximena's story, a (SPOILER) not-quite condesa who wants her people to take their rightful place at the helm of this culturally diverse land.
But once Ximena is forced to travel far from her home, and promised to the king of the opposing side, her eyes are truly opened to the dark past of the nation. Now, the line between good and bad--Llascan and Illustrian--blurs.
Throw in a masked vigilante and brooding healer (both Llascans), and Ximena is well and truly tangled in a web of lies, magic, and romance.
Once the condesa finds a mythical object that could cause either side to rise...or fall, Ximena needs to make an impossible choice. Will she betray her closest friends to save one kingdom, or somehow find a way to peace between both peoples?
This book is a tapestry of romance, magic, culture, and finding your truth--Perfect for reading under the covers on a cosy day.
