To my fellow Hookers: As you all know, Tuesday was the six month anniversary of Hurricane Ian and while memories of that day still haunt us we can look around at our Island, our friends, and fellow residents and honestly say that we remain hopeful that our island and our lives will return to "normal" again. I am sure that I can speak for us all when I say that its GREAT to be a part of such a wonderful organization of women! From all of us on the Board, Happy Easter and God Bless you and your families. For those of you leaving town soon, we wish you a safe trip home and we will see you later! Very truly yours, Julia, Vice Madam |

Our last Adopt-a-Road clean up was September 24, and a lot has happened in the last 6 months. Enjoy a spruced up Pine Island road from Blue Dog to Miceli's! We had seven mighty Hookers who braved the heat and funky trash for the March 26 clean up. It was a mix of hurricane debris, residue, and beer and water bottles pitched or left on the side of the road by folks who don't appreciate a clean environment. A special thanks to Lynn Hewitt, Heidi Dyche, Gail Landis, Cindy Walton, Vicky Janda, and Jamie Keith, for their hard work and smiles braving the heat and abundant trash. Also a shout out to Julia Gaylor for showing up to lead the after-church 11 am groups that didn't make it. But you can thank Julia and Vicky for cleaning up the lot in front of Publix that was used for Saturday's IslandFest. As usual, our Hookers rose to the occasion and continue to make a positive difference in our awesome community. Keep up the good work, ladies! Lorie Tidwell and Shirley Noble Adopt-a-Road co-chairs |

We had our final supply giveaway on March 28th, the six month anniversary of Hurricane Ian. The event went great and 106 residents came through the line, with a total of 110 residents who were helped by our efforts. This price tag for the event was $45k. The Hook a Ride Program and the Honey Wagon Services end as well, on March 31st. We look forward to helping out with long term relief and we still have a few things planned for the island to make it great again! Stay Tuned! |
