a lil summer hello

hope y'all are having the loveliest summer <3

here's an attempt

at a brief summer update via a list:

1. I went 6 months strong on my daily painting challenge. I am not giving up but I am rethinking how I work and what I want from a daily practice.  This month's goal is to make one 22" x 30" painting on paper each week.

2. I published a Haystack blog cause I am still smitten.  You can read my reflections, look at my art, and lots of pictures here.

3. I have FIVE paintings up on view at The Harlow for their Salon Style Summer show, Everything, Everywhere. This show is on view until September 3rd.

4. I was so lucky to be able to attend a Tuesday Talk at the Oqunquit Museum of Art to hear a conversation between Lois Dodd and Josephine Halvorson. Some favorite quotes from that talk are:

from Lois Dodd:

"WE PAINT BECAUSE WE CRAVE INDIVIDUAL EXPRESSION THAT NO OTHER IN LIFE AFFORDS"

"PAINT UNTIL YOU HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO SAY"

from Josephine Halvorson:

"PAINTINGS REMEMBER MORE THAN WE EVER WILL."

That's it for now.

Enjoy some studio photos and paintings I have been working on lately.

Thanks for reading and viewing, stay cool out there, enjoy the last days of summer.  Time is moving so fast.  Hope you all find space to rest and reflect.  Time to enjoy the blue skies, sun on your skin, or perhaps the cool chills of an AC.  Hug your friends.  Swim in the ocean.  Make your favorite meal.  Dance in your kitchen, sing sing sing, and find solace in this chaotic world.  See ya next month.
