Harvest

To celebrate Harvest we will be collecting food for Carecent in York. This is a York based breakfast centre for all homeless, unemployed, and otherwise socially excluded members of our community.

Normally they would be asking for tins of beans or tomatoes, or packets of cereal to see them through the next 12 months. However, as their dedicated staff have continued to work during these unprecedented times, even though their café cannot open, they have started to offer a more 'pack up' range of food. What they now need a regular supply of is:

Spreadable butter

Mayonnaise

Pickles

Cheese

Cold meat

Any sandwich fillings

Chocolate biscuits

Crisps

Fruit - Bananas and satsumas are best

If you wish to donate any of these items these can be left at the Bugthorpe shop and Post Office from Monday 19th October to Saturday 24th October. The opening times can be found here.

These will then be taken into Carecent, York.

Thank you in advance for any and all donations received.

Remembrance Service

There is an online church service for Remembrance Sunday on 8th November, 10am - 10.45. After this there will be a short Remembrance Service outside the Bugthorpe War Memorial Institute from 10.55. Tea, coffee and tea cakes will be served after the service. Social distancing rules apply and you are encouraged to wear a mask if you want to.

Everyone is welcome so we hope to see you there!

Christmas Memory Baubles

This year we are creating a Christmas Memory Tree in Bugthorpe Village.

This is in memory of someone who you cannot spend Christmas with, whether this be because they are no longer with us or if they live too far away. These are clear baubles that you can decorate however you wish, along with a tag for you to write the name and/or message for the person you are remembering. These will be hung, along with lights, on an existing tree between the village green and the church over the festive period.

The Memory Bauble Kits will be available from Monday 26th October from Bugthorpe Shop or 2 Stephenwath Lane (if you need a more out of hours option). They cost £3 each or 2 for £5. All proceeds to go to St Leonard's Hospice, York. For more information visit out notice board here.

All the events will be featured on the Bugthorpe website, so you can refer back to them for more details.
