THANK YOU! The Shred Event on April 2nd was a huge success. In 2 hours the Food Pantry raised $941.00 and 668.4 lbs. of food while helping our fellow islanders dispose of their sensitive documents safely to keep their identity safe. A few Hookers dropped by to take advantage of this great opportunity some stayed to help out. Thank you! The pantry is very grateful to the Greater Pine Island Elks for sponsoring this event, by covering the cost of the truck and allowing the pantry to use their parking lot, tent, table and chairs. Several donors said they were very thankful we held this event and hoped it would continue annually, which is the plan. Next Up - USPS Stomp Out Hunger Drive, May 14 – which is back after a 2 year hiatus. In past years, this has been a big Hooker volunteer opportunity, sorting on the day of the event, so the Food Pantry is hoping they can count on your support again. More information will be available at the General Meeting when we will be asking for volunteers to again help collect and sort donations. |
