How did we get here? This project is very close to me. My grandfather was a veteran of World War II and in 2001 I attended my first Second Air Division reunion in England with him. I was awestruck at finding out what he did as a bombardier/navigator during the war. A twenty year old kid flying high above enemy territory in an oversized tin can. He was tasked with dropping 500 pound bombs (or bigger) to the ground below - it was impossible to believe. On top of that, finishing a 35 mission tour and returning home alive was beyond impressive. I got hooked on the 93rd's story and my grandfather's connection to it. |

John L Sullivan - Bombardier and Navigator in the 93rd Bomb Group |
The objective of this documentary is to tell the 93rd Bomb Group's story to a larger audience and spread the word about what these brave men and women did to secure peace throughout the world. The 93rd Bomb Group Association is a non-profit entity and their by-laws state that they must educate future generations to stay viable. With that directive, getting this film seen on a popular internet streaming service like Netflix or securing nationwide visibility through PBS would satisfy the group's ongoing mission. The kernel idea for the film was pitched at a reunion a few years ago and it has since turned into a grassroots effort to raise money for its completion. We are currently working on theatrical screenings this summer. Please catch our updates on Facebook or continue reading these email updates in the coming months to see if Return To Hardwick will screen near you. If you'd like to support the documentary please visit our donation page. You still have time to get your name listed in the credits for your contribution! Official Return To Hardwick Trailer Releasing Next Month |
I've been working hard on getting a trailer made for the film. I started editing one last year and then stopped. I didn't think it represented the film at the time. As I started up again this year, I knew I needed to convey three things in a very short amount of time - place, subject and connection. The place would be Hardwick, the 93rd's airbase. That one was easy! The subject would be WWII and the 93rd's involvement in the war. The last, and I think the most important one, would be connection. How are we still connected to our veterans and what role do we play in that today? I'm happy to say I got it all done sifting through 73 minutes of the documentary and picking out the best stuff. The 93rd Bomb Group and I will be excited to share the trailer with very soon. |

Worldwide Release At The Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum |
We are currently in the planning stage to screen Return To Hardwick at The Mighty Eighth Air Force museum in Savannah, GA. In our opinion, there is no better place to have a world premiere then at The Mighty Eighth Air Force museum. |
Not only is the museum home to all the groups that served in the Eighth Air Force during WWII but it continues to educate everyone today about the sacrifices that were made by our veterans during that turbulent time. |
The staff at the museum are excited about the documentary and it looks like we will be doing a summer release. If we get a large interest from the public, multiple screenings will possibly be setup. Stay tuned! The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force 175 Bourne Ave, Pooler, GA 31322 |

Final Audio Mix Locking Soon |
I spent a few days with a good friend and colleague Elliot Taylor sound mixing Return To Hardwick. The film is running just shy of 73 minutes so it takes a few sessions to work our way through it. Elliot is looking at every piece of dialogue, every natural sound, and every sound effect to make sure they are brought up to a proper level. |

In particular with the dialogue, he's even able to equalize extraneous noise out so voices come through crystal clear. We have a few more session in the weeks ahead but things are looking good. One of the final steps is to produce a Dolby 5.1 surround sound mix - this makes the film sound even better in theatrical environments! |

We got our Impact DOCS award in the mail this month We started submitting the documentary to film festivals last year. Even though the film was in the finishing stages, we sent a rough cut to the Impact DOCS Awards and won! It's a great laurel to have and I think it reminds us that we are on the right track :) Letter of Recognition From Festival |
