Message from the Director |
On Saturday, May 22, 2023, the Anchor House Board of Directors met for a strategic planning meeting. The purpose of the gathering was to develop a five-year strategic plan for Anchor House Inc. God has blessed this ministry for the past thirty years, and we are grateful for his blessings and faithfulness. We are thankful for the men and women volunteers and staff, past and present, we would not be where we are today without everyone’s faithful service. We are very excited for the future as the port continues to grow and our ministry opportunities expand. In our time together, the board agreed to hire our intern, Gabe Holton, as a part-time graphic designer/social media director. Gabe will return for his junior year at Wheaton College in early August as he continues his undergraduate studies in Bible and English. Gabe had a full schedule this summer at Anchor House doing ship visitation, writing a weekly blog for the Anchor House site, updating our social media sites, designing an informative brochure, redesigning the newsletter, creating graphics for our Fishing Slam and Golf Outing, attending the NAMMA conference in Seattle Washington, and doing required writings and courses for his NAMMA internship. |

ANCHOR HOUSE RENOVATION UPDATE |
The renovations at Anchor House are complete! We are very thankful for Mike Hennesey Construction and his crew, as they worked diligently to complete everything on time and within budget. They were also very accommodating, as we never needed to close or stop services at the center. It was challenging at times and we needed to be creative, but everything turned out beautifully. We would like to thank ITF (International Transport Federation) and the TK Foundation, for the grants and our supporters for donations to complete this renovation debt-free. You can see updates and photos on our social media sites (Facebook:@anchorhousemission, Instagram:anchorhousemission), or you can see them on our website wwww.anchorhousemission.com |

Roman Pashinin is the chief engineer for the Sonderborg container ship. He hails from Saint-Petersburg, Russia, and has a decade of maritime experience. He graduated from the academy in 2009 and became an engine officer in 2010. In his current role on the Sonderborg he oversees all engine room operations. Presently, he is on his first contract aboard the Sonderborg where he has served as chief engineer for nearly four months. Outside of his maritime responsibilities, he’s an avid collector of vinyl records, curating a diverse selection of funk, soul, hip-hop, and Soviet instrumental music. During his downtime, he enjoys gaming on his PS4 and watching movies. Roman says, “The Anchor House guys are very friendly. I think all of our crew feel your care and help. Thank you! I just wish all seafarers feel care. It’s very important.” Please keep Roman in your prayers. |

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of two remarkable individuals, Will Wichers and Naomi Frushour, who have been integral members of our Anchor House family for many years. They have recently gone home to be with the Lord. Will Wichers faithfully served as a Monday night driver for the past 20 years, ensuring the safe transportation of seafarers to town. His commitment extended beyond his volunteer role, as he was also a beloved supporter of Anchor House, contributing to its financial well-being. Naomi Frushour's remarkable devotion was evident in her consistent presence at the center. She volunteered tirelessly throughout the week, exemplifying an unwavering commitment to our cause. In addition to her time, Naomi was a faithful financial contributor. Our deepest condolences go out to the families of Will Wichers and Naomi Frushour, as they navigate this time of loss. We also extend our sympathies to Anchor House Board member Helen Everson on the passing of her husband, Richard. |
