Digging Into Grounding

  • Are you more forgetful than usual?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, it could be a sign that you have become disconnected from your self and from your environment, that you've become ungrounded.

Amid all the stresses, disruptions and trauma of life, staying emotionally balanced, firmly connected to reality and fully present in the moment - that is, grounded - is an ongoing challenge. And it's totally normal to feel ungrounded at times.

 

However, if we're otherwise healthy, some extra attention to self care is usually all we need to re-ground ourselves.

IMPORTANT: if ungrounded feelings persist or significantly interfere with daily functioning, it's important to seek professional help from a licensed medical professional or therapist in addition to doing self care.

Being Outdoors

Immersing ourselves in nature can be calming and restorative for our entire being, and has a way of putting things into perspective.

 

News Intake Limits

While staying informed is important, limiting our consumption of news can help reduce anxiety and feelings of being overwhelmed.

 

Physical Activity

Any exercise that's appropriate for us can help anchor us in the moment, release tension and stress, and improve sleep.

 

Deep Breathing

Taking a number of slow, deep breaths throughout the day calms the nervous system, helps reduce stress and increases body awareness.

 

Meditation

Moving beyond the concerns of everyday life even for a short time can help improve our mental clarity and give us a profound sense of inner peace.

 

Reiki / healing energy

Receiving energy healing supports our overall health and well-being: helps us to become and stay balanced, to become and stay grounded.

 

When we regularly take steps to get and stay grounded, we're much better equipped to live a well balanced, joyful and fulfilling life.
