Dear NAB friends, A couple of weeks ago, we joined 120 NAB leaders from 49 countries in Istanbul for our annual GSG/NABs gathering. Personally, this is my favourite conference every year because it is so forward-looking and hands-on. To drive change you have to set ambitious objectives and we collectively agreed that 10% of all assets under management should be invested into impact. Why 10%? Because research shows that when just 10% of the population holds an unshakeable belief they can change the minds of everyone else. This has already been our target at the Dutch NAB since 2022 so we firmly stand behind this global objective. Enjoy the newsletter. Laure Wessemius-Chibrac, Managing Director |

Capital Requirements working group |
It's been a year since we established our working group focussing on capital requirements for institutional investors investing in impact. One of the barriers often cited by investors to increasing capital allocated to impact is the excessive level of capital charges. The research investigated the hypothesis that regulatory risk assessment does not reflect the risk of impact investing instruments properly and assigns an inappropriate capital charge to them. Working group members FMO, Cardano-Actiam and a.s.r. Asset Management provided guidance to NAB research intern Julian Niestroj during a full year. The report is now ready and being peer-reviewed. We will publish and formally launch it in a webinar after the summer. Stay tuned. |

Breakfast Inspiration Workshops |
Following the success of our Breakfast Inspiration Workshop on Green Bonds, the NAB continued its momentum by hosting two more Workshops on Biodiversity and Water in collaboration with our partners: the Impact Institute, the Dutch chapter of Impact for Breakfast and EVPA. Our speakers from both sessions presented their journeys on biodiversity and water investments, emphasising why both theme are important, and presented their frameworks to bring positive contribution. During the Q&A a clear consensus emerged in the audience that both themes represent a systemic risk, and just as with climate, regulators should monitor this risk and require that financial institutions report on it. Find all the presentations in our Learning Environment and save the date for our next Breakfast Inspiration Workshop: Focus on Private Equity. More information and registration about our upcoming sessions are here. |
