Hello everyone, We're thrilled to have passed 4,000 followers on Instagram on Monday, so a big thank you to everyone that is following us. There's a lot going into the calendar for the next couple of weeks, which is so good to see: live music, DJ music, comedy and other great events too. It's going to be a busy few weeks ahead. Meal Deals and Food Offers Thursday's there is a new Bavarian Night at Water's Edge. On offer are Bavarian dishes such as pretzels and salad, bratwurst, pork knuckle and more, plus beer of course and music. Bavarian Night is on Thursdays from 4.00pm. What's better than buy one, get one free? How about buy two, get two free... that's on offer at Totally Hooked on Thursdays. This offer applies to a selection of dishes including Mediterranean Prawns, Chilli Crab and Popcorn Shrimp. Valid for dine-in on Thursdays only. This weekend, Big Mighty Deli will have a pop-up at Black Cat Cafe for a Big Cat Brunch. There's a variety of special dishes on offer including sharing dishes and also a vegan option. The brunch is on Saturday and Sunday; for a sneak peak at the menu, click here. Commons Coffee have a panini promotion until the end of the month. They have a special panini menu with panini treats such as chicken bacon and garlic hummus or cheesy pulled beef and onion marmalade. They also have a milkshake promotion, with a range of special milkshakes (I want to try the peanut butter and banana!). Both promotions are valid until the end of August. | | |

Drinks Deals There's an extra hour of happiness at Asylum nowadays with four hours of happy hour every day. There is a wide selection of cocktails, including seven newly created "Calamity Cocktails" for just Rs900 each from 5.00pm to 9.00pm. We like the sound of the "Power Outage" which is arrack based and doubtless a lot more refreshing and enjoyable than, well, a power outage! R&B Night Club has a Ladies' Night and, unlike most others, it's on Tuesday. From 7.00pm until 10.00pm ladies can enjoy selected cocktails free. There's also a Happy Hour for everyone from 8.00pm to 11.00pm. | | |

Live Music and DJs So there's a lot of music over the next couple of weeks. This Saturday is the Classic Rock Night at Re.pub.lk, featuring Link, Stereo and three solo artists, Shehara, Kirk and Ama. It's also Rugby Day and, after the big match, the After Party from 2pm in the Race Course Car Park features Chitral, Corinne and Umara with The Redeemers. This weekend also sees Jazz Sundays back at Red Dwarf with The Jazz Project, this weekend with special guest Geoffrey Fernando. Entry from 5.00pm with the band from 6.30pm. Next Saturday, 27 August, the big gig is of course Stigmata continuing their 22nd anniversary gig series. The evening will feature cameos from Sanjeev Niles, Wagon Park and Trishira. This fantastic metallic evening will be at Taphouse from 7.00pm, tickets priced at Rs2,500, with a pint of stout redeemable from each ticket. Alternatively on Saturday you can enjoy a sing along with Annesley Malawana and Super Chines featuring Falan Andrea, at Water's Edge from 7.30pm. Also that day is "A Trip Down Memory Lane"; Monique and Piyal will be with OiC at Cheers Pub from 8.00pm. There's a big buzz on the club circuit too, as DJ sisters Marisol and Ivonne Grajales from Mexico will be playing a Sri Lanka Club Tour, starting this Friday. The tour includes a daytime Flamingo Breeze this Saturday. The schedule is: Friday 19 August: Love Bar. Saturday 20 August: Breeze Bar (11am) followed by Industri Sunday 21 August: Travelling Bruncher Friday 26 August: Botanik Saturday 27 August: Kava Sunday 28 August: Travelling Bruncher Also this weekend, it's Rescue Pirate's Summer 22 Dance Music Experience at King of the Mambo on Saturday with twelve DJs on the decks from 3.00pm till very late. And next weekend, on Friday 26th "Gaia" takes place at Vista's rooftop featuring nine DJs starting from 5.00pm and surely ending very late! | | |

Other Events This Thursday there's a new Art exhibition opening at Paradise Road Gallery. Titled "Love without Culture" it features works by Sanjaya Senavirathna. There will be an exclusive preview on Thursday 18 August from 6.00pm to 8.00pm and thereafter the exhibition will be open from 10.00am until midnight daily until 8 September. Also on Thursday, the Wildlife & Nature Protection Society will be holding their monthly lecture. This month, four experts will discuss Conservation of the Sri Lankan Leopard. This will be at the BMICH Jasmine Hall from 6.00pm. It's all about kites this Sunday at Pegasus Reef, Wattala with the Pegasus Kite Festival. From 4pm you can take part in a kite workshop, or bring your own kite and join the fun, with beach front kite flying. Also on Sunday, a special event for classical music fans. The Goethe Institut is hosting a Digital Concert, screening an online performance of Mahler's 1st Symphony performed by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. This will be at 5.00pm in the Goethe Hall. | | |
