Tues., Aug 23rd - PIE Tournament & Derby Planning Meeting - Bert's Bar Back Room 6pm All are invited. Members who are chairs will need to plan on being at this meeting! 

Mon., Sep. 19 - Luau Planning meeting is at SJCC at 6pm.  All are welcome.

Ladies,

Welcome to the dog days of the end of Summer that August brings to Southwest Florida.  Local public schools start in just a couple of days, but I'm sure that many of you that are parents and teachers are missing the 'lazy' part of August.  Please remember to be more aware of kids on the island when you're driving!

Luckily, most of you that are in the Northern states are still enjoying the 'lazy' part of August!  My memories are enjoying the best corn, tomatoes and produce from the Midwest.  Feel free to ship some down our way!! 

Stop by Island Visions to say Thank You for helping us with our Blood Drive on Saturday, August 6th.  We had 14 donors and that means that up to 42 others can receive potentially live saving help from our donors.  It was great to see so many Hookers donate, and we always have a great team from OneBlood.

Do you know that many companies have Matching Donations for Charitable Donations that you make as an Employee or Retiree?  What does that mean?  It can mean that as an employee or retiree from a company or corporation, or even one of your service providers can make a donation if YOU make a donation to the Matlacha Hookers and they may be able to match it dollar for dollar.  Sometimes you just have to ask!

Hey!  I purchased a vehicle and asked if my Salesperson would make a donation to the Hookers, and he did!  It was a $100 and for every person that I referred he did the same thing.  Can't hurt to ask!

This does not only apply to the Matlacha Hookers, but it can also apply to other 501(c) Charitable Organizations and make an important difference to our community.  After all, our Mission Statement is to Make a Positive Difference in Our Community!!  Please ask DJ or Joanne for more information if you would like more information.

The Pine Island Elementary Fishing Tournament & Derby is coming up on Sunday, November 6th.  There are so many ways for YOU can volunteer and help this another successful year.  Consider attending the next PIE Derby Committee Meeting to hear more about the different ways that you can help.

Request for Booze or Wine for the Booze Wagon for the Derby event

We are requesting all Hookers donate a bottle of booze or wine, for the PIE Booze Wagon

Donations can be brought to the General Meetings, starting this month until Mid October

Our goal is to have 50 bottles by the event! We will start selling tickets at the September Meeting.  Thanks, Joanne Correia

Bottles of Wine are also requested for the Mystery Wine Table, valued over $10 for the Island Luau.  Our goal is to have 250 bottles by the event!  Thanks, Lucinda, Mystery Wine Chair

Thank You For The Additional PIE School Supply Help

School supply final organizing and back pack stuffing at Pine Island Elementary went well last week.  We stuffed over 60 backpacks and laid out the supplies for teachers and parents to shop from at Open House. 

Next year co chairs Christy Rau and Joyce Boyer were joined by Beth Nelson, Julie Stein, Lorie Tidwell, Mary Alice Combs, Penny Long, and Debbie Nelson to help.  Thank you! 

This is the first time in quite a while that the Hookers have been allowed to come into the school and complete this part of the project and it was enjoyed by all involved.  Thank you to Christy, a PIE parent. for follow up with the school.  A check presentation for the remaining monetary balance raised from the School Supply Drive will be made to Principal Millins at the Sept. General meeting.

A service will be held at 11am for Carl Glenn on August 16 at SJC Baptist church

The website Members ONLY pages have been updated and are accessible on the HOME page in two sections. The 2022 Password is 20HMP22 and only needs to be entered one time on the Members only page. Members need to email the Secretary at
