The Borzoi Bulletin          Spring 2021

Welcome to the first edition of the Borzoi Bulletin!

NBRF news, events, and updates delivered to your inbox.

The National Borzoi Rescue Foundation is the only rescue dedicated exclusively to Borzoi. For 25 years we have worked tirelessly to ensure that any Borzoi, EVERY Borzoi in a rescue situation is safe. Their medical needs are met. They are healed. They are loved. They are given their chance. A chance to know contentment, peace and a decent life. The life every Borzoi deserves.

How can I help?

BREAKING NEWS:  2021 is shaping up to be very a BUSY year!  Since January 1st, NBRF has rescued NINETEEN of our beloved breed. They have come from near and far....and one from FAR, FAR!  We are excited to share with our fellow Borzoi fans EACH of their stories, their incredible journeys, the important people who helped make it happen, and their new lives in their forever homes.  A different dog will be featured in each of the Borzoi Bulletin's ~BOAST POST~!  Please feel free to submit updates, photos, and any special announcements about your NBRF angels to newsNBRF@gmail.com.

AND NOW, our feature story...

A SYMPHONY of Beauty, Grace, and Git R' Done

Not every rescue story is gut wrenching; sometimes it is due to a domino effect, a left turn, a zig when a zag was expected. Sometimes LIFE just happens and things don't go according to plan.  But no matter the reason, a Borzoi in need is a Borzoi in need. In this particular instance, when a situation began to spiral, NBRF was invited to intervene, acting as a safety net for these beautiful Borzoi, ensuring a safe landing for each.  As we do anytime the call comes in, our team of volunteers went into immediate action!  Calls were made, meetings were held, assignments were distributed, and the rescue operation went into high gear.

Hailing from Massachusetts and ranging in age from 9 months to 2 years, we are very pleased to report *The Boston Pups* were quickly and safely relocated to multiple, wonderful foster homes scattered from the Northeast to the Midwest USA.  Ten dogs were collected, transported, and handed off to capable folks within 36 hours.  THAT is amazing.  Over the next few weeks, each dog will receive veterinary care, assessments, evaluations, grooming, and absurd amounts of love.  The NBRF team will be working on screening, verifying, and evaluating potential adopters so these pups can be placed in the BEST forever situations for them to thrive and grow old and, of course, be adored.

We would like to thank each and every person who responded to our request for assistance.  The outpouring was overwhelming!  Thank you to those who volunteered to transport.  Thank you to those who volunteered to foster, to those who filled out adoption applications, and to those who donated to the cause. The ORCHESTRA theme felt perfectly suited for this big Boston rescue because, in order to make beautiful music, in order to be successful, the orchestra must work in perfect timing, in harmony, with each element doing their part.  YOU are a part of this Composition and we are very grateful for your support!

Meet the Boston Pups!

Keep an eye on our FB page for updates and information on each dog listed below such as age, health, temperament, and personality.  Very soon, we will begin placing these beauties in their forever homes.  If you have not done so, please complete an adoption application for consideration.

NBRF is an all volunteer organization but that doesn’t mean these bundles of joy come without costs and the pups still need your compassion and generosity.

Urgent medical care $$$ - Spay or neuter can run anywhere between $200 - $900  Each foster package including flea and heart worm preventatives, collar and leash and microchip is $76.00 Vet checks, food, transportation… Times those numbers by 10 and we’ve got some serious bills to pay!

NBRF - International Rescue:   IVY

IVY

Ivy arrived from Korea just 3 short months ago. She bounded out of her crate filled with so much joy I was immediately smitten!  She’s affectionate, loving and silly but also has a stubborn streak.  We’re still struggling to brush her teeth but can now trim her nails with the distraction of peanut butter.  Ivy has never met a  stranger and we’re working on self control. We’ve told her that not everyone appreciates Borzoi hugs from a 70 plus pound  dog! She LOVES the snow and going on our daily 3 mile walks. Ivy has been a wonderful addition to our family and I can’t imagine life without her! Thank you NBRF for entrusting us with such an amazing girl!
