Another month has flown by! We would like to extend our thanks to all who completed the survey on the level of customization desired in the Aspen Grove development. We were astounded with the amount of responses and have been so thrilled to receive positive feedback, useful detailed design insights and general perception of what choices our clients would like to see when purchasing their Aspen Grove home.

So, what was the consensus? Overall, clients want to be involved in all levels of the design process. In the kitchen, most  customers want to choose cabinet doors, handles and lighting options. Buyers want easy to clean surfaces, kitchen island and the soft close option for drawers and cupboards. For the bathroom, the survey indicated clients would prefer one large sink instead of two small ones, walk-in showers, tile floors with the option of in-floor heating. The most popular flooring choice by far was ecologically labelled hardwood floors with locally sourced douglas fir coming in for a hot second.

We heard you. Every kitchen will have a kitchen island, choices for cabinetry and soft close included. Bathrooms will have tiled shower and floor options, one large sink and an in-floor heat upgrade. Hot tubs are desired by some clients so we will be looking into deck design incorporation. We are also pleased to include engineered hardwood floors with our standard package. Given the success of January’s survey, we would love your intel on a couple of other elements in the development – please see below!

Financial costings are coming together, Louis is providing the essential turbo boost required to produce an accurate model. We are also currently working with our legal team at Rockies Law to allow us to accept pre-sale deposits. We look forward to announcing soon!

Streetlights - hindrance or help?

Heat pumps: What are they?

As you know, our design is focused on saving energy in the building envelope. Our energy advisor, Micheal Nemeth, P.Eng., LEED AP from Bright Buildings, has completed our energy modelling calculations, estimating heating costs may be less than $20 a month with a heat pump system.

For those of you that don't know, heat pumps offer a quiet, comfortable and more efficient heating and cooling system than other conventional systems such as forced air. Powered by electricity, they cut back your greenhouse gas emissions. Check out this article by BC Hydro giving the low down on how they work.
