One of our directors, Kerry-Anne, was checking out the Queenston Formation (“shale”) while out on her paddleboard this summer along the shores of Lake Ontario in Burlington.
Kerry-Anne wished she had a bottle of acid to test if the grey sections are reduced shale or limestone stringers...
The Queenston formation proves to be a challenge for drilling at times due to the
limestone stringers.
It's also challenging when it comes to contaminant hydrogeology due to its
fractures and porosity; contaminants are relatively easily absorbed into the rock matrix and Dense Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (DNAPL) can travel in all sorts of directions.
