Release Date: Sunday, January 21, 2024

Hello Room 115 Families!

I trust that 2024 has been good to you so far. Here are some important updates, announcements, and a sprinkle of fun! Kindly ensure your child returns their iPad to school tomorrow, and don't forget to sign up for a parent-teacher conference.

A big thank you for the fantastic support during our E-Learning day. I was truly impressed by how well the kids did! Your cooperation is invaluable.

Exciting news: Mrs. Johnson is now with us full-time until the end of March. We're thrilled to have her in Room 115!

Wishing you a fantastic week ahead!

Important Room 115 Updates

IPADS & MAP TESTING

On Fridays, your child will bring their iPad home unless an E-Learning Day is anticipated. During the rest of the week (Monday to Thursday), the iPads will be kept at school and sent home again on Friday.

Kindly make sure your child returns their iPad, fully charged, cleaned, and with tabs closed.

This is especially important for this Monday, January 22. 2024 as we will begin MAP testing this week.

Thank you!

SNACKS

Big thanks to our fantastic families for making snack time nut-safe! 🌰 Your assistance is truly appreciated. Quick tip: chat with your little ones about their snack preferences and quantity. We've noticed some snack feedback, so involving them in packing might be a snack-time game-changer. Thanks for being awesome partners! 🌈🥪

WINTER GEAR & SHOES

As the winter chill continues, it's super important to ensure your child stays toasty for school. Don't forget the essentials: gloves, hats, scarves, snow pants, and boots.

We also recommend having an extra pair of shoes, especially on gym days.

(Tuesdays & Wednesdays).

Favorite Highlights Since Returning From Break

CLARK CASH

Since the return from our break, the kids have been earning tons of Clark Cash for their exceptional classroom behavior and stellar adherence to expectations. Our rewards system is based on Clark Cash Dollar Amounts, offering a variety of prizes. Rewards range from a $1 Clark Cash investment for a pencil or sticker to a thrilling $15 Clark Cash for a pick from the BIG treasure chest. If your child is aiming high, there's even a $30 Clark Cash opportunity to become Teacher Assistant for the day, among many other options.

This system not only reinforces counting skills using 1's, 5's, and 10's but also introduces simple addition and subtraction. The children are learning the art of saving money for more substantial prizes, and they're working hard to achieve their goals.

Every Thursday, the Clark Cash Store opens its doors, giving the kids the exciting choice of "buying" something with their Clark Cash or saving for the following week. Have your children shared their Clark Cash treasures with you yet? Witnessing their pride in earning and spending Clark Cash has been truly delightful!

Math

In our math sessions, we've delved into the realm of measurement, honing in on essential vocabulary like "longer than" and "shorter than." As we venture into this week, our focus shifts to weight and volume. I kindly ask for your support in reinforcing terms such as "heavier than" versus "lighter than," and we'll also embark on the exploration of "more" or "less."

Read Alouds from the Week

This past week, we explored the book "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats. We engaged in three read-aloud sessions where we focused on making predictions and connections with the text, putting events in sequential order, and exploring how the illustrations match what the author is trying to explain. This week, we will dive into "The Mitten" by Jan Brett, anticipating another enriching literary experience.
