NEWS FROM DR. REID Dear St. Patrick Families, Thank you to all the parents who attended Back-to School Night. It was wonderful seeing everyone in person. Spirit Night at Brixx Pizza was a big hit. Thank you PTO for setting it up and thank you families for supporting St. Patrick. This week students in 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades were able to harvest and taste their fruits/vegetables. Our kindergarten students will plant in the Springtime and 3rd grade students will harvest their sweet potatoes at a later time. Be on the lookout for those dates. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who helped on harvesting day and/or tasting day. I was told that the 4th graders loved the okra and asked for seconds. |

WALKER DISMISSAL PROCEDURE If your child will be a walker this year at any point, be sure to select "walker" as one of the options on our Online Form (below). This form states that your family must live within walking distance of the school (no more than 1 mile away) and as parents you understand that your child will be escorted out of the building and expected to walk home without supervision. For safety reasons we will not allow students to be walkers if you do not live within a reasonable walking distance of the school, no more than one mile. Walkers will still continue to enter the gym in the morning as in years past. In the afternoon, walkers will be released out the door nearest the first grade classrooms which exits near the Family Life Center. A staff member will walk students to the Family Life Center area at which point they will continue to walk home. If a parent will meet the child to walk with them, they should plan to meet their child on the sidewalk between the church rectory and the Family Life Center. Families will not be permitted to play on the playground after school due to carpool traffic. Parking is not permitted in the rectory parking lot under any circumstance. |

REPORTING PROCEDURES Everyone has a role to play in protecting children. North Carolina law requires all adults to immediately report suspected child abuse by anyone to law enforcement agencies. If you know or suspect that a minor (person under 18) has been abused, please call 9-1-1 or contact local law enforcement. Also, if you have information about possible sexual abuse or misconduct by any clergy, employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Charlotte, report concerns securely and anonymously 24/7 over the phone or online: 1-888-630-5929 or www.RedFlagReporting.com/RCDOC. |
