Mandala Of the Self: Online Dream Work

Class Series

Led By Amy Kisei & Jogen Salzberg

October 11, 18, 25 & November 1

Tuesdays 6P - 8P PT/ 9P- 11P ET

What a curious and tragic thing, this amnesia of the soul, that we can lose touch with our own myriad sources of happiness. The small happinesses- not grand illuminations, rather the things we do and ways we play that feed us and sustain us, the bright pockets of meaning amidst the everyday necessities of adulting.

Also a curious and often tragic thing, how we desire perspective on our lives and long for a bird’s eye view or a glimpse of our life without fogginess but find it so hard to come by.

Meditation may be one of these bright pockets or means of perspective but can't be expected to be the only piece of the puzzle.

So, dreams. Especially when listened to skillfully, the dreaming mind reveals itself as an ally in remembering how to be whole, the happinesses hiding in the plain light of day, and an ally in seeing the whole picture.

Dreams are a way we can come to know ourselves: the tender, the mysterious, the fearful, the beautiful and .... Dreams show us our conflicts, our fears and open the door to worlds beyond what we thought possible.

WEEK 1 – INTRO TO DREAM AS MANDALA OF THE SELF

Here we mean Mandala as an expression of wholeness. Dreams often present to us images, feelings, characters or presences that we tend to think of as “other”, thus making the polarities and conflicts in ourselves and our world. We begin the process of making this unconscious polarization conscious.

WEEK 2 – EMBODYING THE “OTHER”: SOMATIC EXPERIENCE IN DREAM-WORK

This week we will work with the polarities in our dreams through somatic practices of dream-work, learning to inhabit the felt texture of these polarities in our bodies and speech. We step out of our shoes into the unfamiliar and are expanded!

WEEK 3 – MAPPING OUR DREAMS: MAKING MANDALAS

This week we will continue to explore dreams through the creative process through paint, collage, poetry, dance, sculpture or music.

WEEK 4 – DREAMING THE DREAM ON: AWAKENING THE RITUALS OF THE DREAMING

Dreams hint at ways we can show up in the waking world differently, inviting new ways of seeing, perceiving and being. We will contemplate and design personal physical rituals to bring these new ways to life.
