Happy Friday Friends!!!

Happy Newsletter Friday! Welcome to those of you who are reading this for the first time and welcome back to those returning!

THE POLL RESULTS:

This past poll was inspired by the Crayola color Macaroni and Cheese. For some reason, this color always stuck with me and I was happy to see it resonate with some of you! People did add some nice additions like Robins Egg Blue, Carnation Pink, and Mauvelous. What a wide range of crayons Crayola has.

While there are many colors in the Crayola universe there is one color that is found throughout the entire universe. The winning color is OUTERSPACE! I mean look at the night sky and the ever expanding universe. There is a lot of outerspace in the universe so, I guess it had quite the influence on all y'all.

IN THE HEADLINES:

Are you tired of all the constant headlines popping up on your phones? Does the news sometimes ruin the day? Here is a place where you can find uplifting, fun, and good news from people in our own community. Keep looking to your own life headlines for a smile!

Featured Headlines:

  • "I took a lil' trip to Edinburgh!"
    • Marcie - UK

  • "I spent the 4th with friends by a lake!"
    • Helen - NY

  • "I went to the Rockaway Beach for the first time!"
    • Erin - NY

Marcie, next time put me in your suitcase because that trip sounds delicious. Also, Helen, that sounds like a lovely way to spend the 4th. Friends by the water... I am jealous! Speaking of water, Erin, the beach sounds FANTASTIC!!

Our news might be small but, it was good news! Want to be featured "In the Headlines"? Share your breaking news here to have the chance to be in the next newsletter!

OTHER NEWS:

Y'all... it is JULY!! Can you believe how quick the year is moving?! Every time I look at the calendar I gasp a little but because time is Soarin', Flyin' ...there's not a star in heaven that we can't reach!! (Whoops, High School Musical took over for a sec) . There are so many things happening everyday now but, try to pause and take in the moment you are in. I am trying to do that because it calms me and also makes me grateful for what is around me.

The summer heat is here and it is HAWT! Please don't forget to hydrate. The summers are getting hotter everywhere which means we need to remember to take care of ourselves and to also take care of our planet. For ourselves we need to hydrate, put sunscreen on, make sure people are fed and have shelter from the heat. On top of that, we have to make sure to do all we can do to combat climate change so the summer heat and weather doesn't worsen and become harder to deal with (check out my most recent Thoughts n' Things). That being said, it is still my fav season and be sure to catch a stellar summer sunset over the next few weeks!!

Thank you for reading this and if this brought a smile to your day, feel free to forward it on and spread the cheer! Don't forget the impact a little kindness can have. It can create lots of change!

'Til next time,

I am currently reading:

  • The Checklist Manifesto by Atul Gawande
  • The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

What I have read these past few weeks:

  • Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson
    • This was a really good read! She discussed the caste system in the States, in Nazi Germany, and in India. I felt like this was an important read and would highly recommend it. (5 stars)
  • The Ride of a Lifetime by Robert Iger
    • Another solid read! Iger lived a fascinating life and hearing how he lived and lead his life was deeply insightful. He pulls on leadership mantras and I personally enjoyed learning how he navigated the entertainment business. (5 stars)

The Newsletter Poll!

We really had a "Rainbow Connection" moment for the last poll. That being said, this next poll might divide us more than it would connect us. It is time to DISH it out over Gib's (OH) poll and see what y'all think about three specific breakfast foods. Which is the best: waffles, pancakes, or french toast? There can only be one winner... so GO VOTE!

For the first time, you get to vote AND back it up if you want to argue it! Some of arguments will be featured in the 7/23 newsletter! NOW VOTE!

One more thing: Want to see your poll question in the newsletter? Submit your ideas here!

The World is Buring

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It's not." -Dr. Suess In Union Square in NYC there is a clock that is counting down representing the amount of time we have left to reduce carbon emmisions. Seeing this clock is overwhelming and causes me to panic.
