Montessori Materials in the Classroom

Wet Pouring with a Funnel

Wet Pouring is a Practical Life activity commonly used in the Montessori classroom. This activity allows children to develop their coordination, hand grasp, and independence.

There are a variety of ways one can use wet pouring in the classroom: pouring from glass to glass, using a funnel, and using a spouted pitcher.

For more information on wet pouring, click the button below!

Our Neighbors: The Big Trucks

As you all have probably noticed, we have some new neighbors!

Construction has started next door on a Dollar General. The children have spent much of their time observing and admiring the big trucks at work while enjoying their time outdoors.

Hopefully these dusty days won't last too long!

Meet Our Staff!

Mrs. Sutherland

Mrs. Sutherland has worked at Salado Montessori for 7 months. She moved here from Nebraska with her son, husband, and 4 pets: 2 Great Pyrenees dogs and 2 cats. Mrs. Sutherland enjoys camping, fishing, hanging out with friends and family, doing crafty things with friends, and playing with her son. When asked if there was anything she wanted our families to know about her she said: "I enjoy working with and learning from your children! Seeing their smiling faces every morning makes my day amazing!"

The Butterfly Garden

In 2018 Salado Montessori became the proud owner of one of the pocket gardens created by the Keep Salado Beautiful project.

Keep Salado Beautiful, a chapter of Keep Texas Beautiful, strives to maintain the natural beauty of Salado, TX.

Our pocket garden, the Butterfly Garden, is made up of native plants that attract a variety of butterflies. When you walk around you will see that each plant is marked with its name and the type of butterfly it attracts.

Milkweed

Although milkweed does not grow inside our Butterfly Garden, you can find it throughout the property.

Milkweed is a very important plant for feeding the monarch butterflies. At Salado Montessori, we work hard to cultivate this naturally growing plant to help keep the monarch population from going extinct.
