SPRING IS ALMOST HERE!

Just a few more weeks and spring will be upon us - that means more sunshine and outdoor activities - hooray!

Before we meet our March Good Egg, here's what's new:

BUDDY'S PIZZA!

Our March Fundraiser at Buddy's Pizza is quickly approaching!

It looks like East Side is winning the sign-up!

C'mon my West Side peeps!

Remember - you can dine-in OR carry out!

Buddy's asks that you tell your server (whether you are dining in or carrying out) that you are there for The Good Eggs Foundation so they can input it into their system. Thank you!

MARCH IS READING MONTH PROMOTION!

LAST MONTH'S "EGGING"

In February, we egged Humble Design Detroit, an amazing nonprofit that custom designs fully furnished homes.

They do this for individuals, families, and veterans emerging from homelessness. We were able to provide comforters, mattress pads, sheets, pillows, and books for their next custom design! They are inspiring new beginnings with their transformational work - beautiful!

WHAT ARE THE EGGS UP TO THIS MONTH? (Book 1, Chapter 7)

March - Acceptance

In Chapter 7, once again, Benedict causes some controversy. He can’t accept the fact that there are girls on the school baseball team and that Coach Flo is female. He makes the decision that he doesn’t want to play on a team with girls, but he soon realizes that he misses playing baseball.

He gives a half-hearted apology, gets on the team temporarily, and fumbles the ball twice during a big game! Seggourney completed both plays fumbled by Benedict. In the end, the Eggs won the big game. Benedict realized he was wrong about the girls and even admitted they were better than him! Then he sincerely apologized for not being more accepting of the girls on the team. Reggie puts everything into perspective when he says, “If we accept all people, together we can make great things happen.”

Just a reminder that we offer advertising for $25/month on this newsletter. We have a new sponsor this month - Matthew Ferri, Estate Planning Attorney. Please patronize if you are in need of his services. See his info below! Contact me if you would like to reserve a spot!

Now let's meet our March

Macomb Foster Closet

The Macomb Foster Closet is an all-volunteer nonprofit 501c3 organization providing much-needed clothing and other essential items free to children in foster care and the amazing families that care for them. They also provide additional services throughout the year such as loaded school backpacks, birthday bags, Easter baskets, and holiday gifts.

Someone I know, a fellow foster parent, told me about the great work of the Macomb Foster Closet.

I knew I wanted to get involved somehow and now I serve as their President.

We accept new and gently used items. Examples are clothing in all sizes, shoes and boots, all school supplies, coats, hygiene products, diapers, sporting equipment and new toys.

We also accept birthday party bags, Christmas stockings, and Easter baskets.

We rely solely on the generosity of our community. We need groups to do drives for us from new socks and underwear to hygiene items. We also need financial support to assist with our rent, operating expenses and to purchase items that may not get donated.

Foster parents can get in touch with me by simply signing up to shop at macombfostercloset.org

People can get involved by signing up for our next volunteer orientation at macombfostercloset.org. We need volunteers to help sort clothing items, open for shoppers, and assist with activities. Thank you!

Thank you, Kevin - you and all the volunteers are

providing an invaluable service to the

foster parents and children in our community!

I hope you enjoyed reading about Macomb Foster Closet!

You can find more information on their website:

Next month's interview will feature a woman helping to

create beautifully redesigned homes to

help give others a new start! Wow!

 See you in April and

thanks for being a Good Egg!

Kindly,
