Leftovers are for quitters. (Said no-one ever) |

In my traditional hunt for a phrase to sum up the month I came across the above - "Leftovers are for quitters", which made me laugh so much that I had to include it. I actually love Thanksgiving leftovers. It means one less meal to plan and makes me feel virtuous for not wasting food. The first thing I do after eating a big bird like a turkey is to boil the leftovers for a few hours to make stock. And then I freeze it and use it for months. It's the gift that keeps on giving and helps me get started when I really don't feel like cooking. Perseverance isn't sexy, but it is important. I don't mean slogging away at something that's a lost cause, but it's critical to give something enough time to have a chance to work. Marketing can be frustrating because it can take time to build a presence and start seeing the returns you want. You might think something was a flop and then six month later a new client calls you up because they want to work with you, but when they originally saw your marketing, they weren't ready. Sometimes, you just have to keep going to get to the finish line. In that spirit, I wish you strength to persevere until the end of the year. We're nearly there, folks! |

Keep on keeping on Marketing is all about consistency. It’s about showing up and continuing to show up. One single brilliant viral campaign may change everything for your business, but if you don’t keep showing up, people will forget about you. Sometimes it can be tempting to take a break or give up, but it's worth continuing. Marketing can take a while to work. Often, if it works brilliantly the first time, that's luck, not skill.

Here's your guide to building a plan Back in 2020, when the whole world was online, I created a series of blogs outlining how to put together a marketing plan. Even though these blogs refer to putting together a plan for 2021, the principles are still sound. If you're getting a start on your planning for next year, have a read of these to check you're not missing anything.

Agile Denver talk This month we were invited to present at the Agile Denver Meetup, an outreach organization for agile and lean practice in the Denver area. As a collective, we're trying a bit of a different business model and it turns out, we're agile! The video of the talk isn't up yet today, but I've been assured it will go up over the weekend, so feel free to check back!

About me I promise I won't talk about the Colorado Wildlife Federation in my next newsletter but I want to one last time, because next week is Colorado Gives Day (on the 6th). We're trying to raise $20,000 as part of Colorado Gives Day and every donation made from November 1 through December 6 counts towards Colorado Gives Day and gets a boost from the $1.4 Million+ Incentive Fund! This is my personal page because I'd love to see how much I can raise. It's a bit empty right now.
