The Beyond the Horizon Newsletter: 21st of July 2022

 Newsletter!

Hello everyone,

And welcome, once more to the Beyond the Horizon Newsletter.

This is your LAST CHANCE to grab the FreeRPGBundle - you have until the 24th of July. Once that passes, the bundle is gone. So if you haven't grabbed it yet, you need to do so NOW. :)(Statistically speaking, most of you HAVEN'T grabbed it, so it's time to go - if you can't remember if you did it, check anyway!)

Follow this link and go and redeem it on DriveThruRPG.

So what's going on at Beyond the Horizon?

Featured Product

Speaking of last chance, if you enjoy dragons and you're following the RPG Carnival, we've still got our discount available for the Archetypes of the Ages: Dragons for 5e - you'll get 20% off, but that expires on the 25th of July! (The discount is only valid on DriveThruRPG, but you can also find the book at itch.io, OpenGamingStore, and even Amazon.)

ARCHETYPES OF THE AGES: DRAGONS (5e)

The Archetypes of the Ages: Dragons book contains a number of options for your characters, inspired by Dragons, such as the Wyrm domain for those who worship at the altar of the dragon gods or the Treasure Hunter ranger who is looking to make a big score, and steal a dragon's hoard.

Give it a look, we think you'll like it.

Projects in the Pipeline

(or PIP for short. :P )

Trials of the Esoteric Order

We've shown you Trials of the Esoteric Order before (which has completed editing now and should go into layout next week, so that it's ready for you all in September). Remember, Trials of the Esoteric Order is the first of our Free Adventures. You'll get a free adventure every 3 months (September, December, March, and June - starting from September this year), simply for being subscribed to this newsletter. Currently, the adventures will be both 5e and Pathfinder 2, but if there is popular demand for it, then we may expand this to other systems (we know, we know, some of you want Pathfinder 1 too. :P But how about something like Dungeon Crawl Classics or Dungeon World? Would anyone be interested - please let us know what you'd like to see by dropping us a line: contact@beyond-the-horizon-games.com )

Blogs

We've continued our sojourn into dragons these past two weeks as part of the RPG Carnival. First, we took a look at an old series of articles by Ed Greenwood called Wyrms of the North. We created our own homage to it with Patina the Copper Dragon (a good dragon that heroes might actually have to kill), and this week we took a look at why dragons should present more of a challenge, and the missing age categories when comparing 5e and Pathfinder 2 to the past editions of the game (both AD&D and 3.0/3.5) - and why you should put them back in.

Our Friends

The Our Friends Section is where we show you something cool that is NOT created by us here at Beyond the Horizon but created by one of our friends within the community or publishing world. Each newsletter will feature a different creator and we will hopefully be able to show you something cool and new each time. :)

Monstrous Personas (5e)

Spoony Minstrel Games

The Kickstarter for Monstrous Personas has been funded and over at Spoony Minstrel, they're looking forward to introducing all kinds of creepy crawly systems to your games. With luck, they'll start hitting those stretch goals and increasing the number of monsters that you can use. The first stretch goal, which is looking increasingly likely, will take the book from 30 to 40 monsters — which ones you might ask? Well, that's a (nasty) surprise that's waiting. :)

The Amaranthine Asp

Menagerie Press

Menagerie Press created this delightful little adventure called The Amaranthine Asp last month. Written by William Murakami-Brundage, it features a warlock who is hellbent on revenge against the Red Hawk clan and their village. Can the heroes stop him, or will they succumb to the bite of the terrible serpent that he has bonded with?
