PASTORAL PAGE WHY DID JESUS CHRIST HAVE TO DIE? by Asst Ps Patrick Chan Yin As we are going through the Lenten season, culminating in the solemn remembrance of Good Friday (on 29 March), when Jesus Christ died on the cross, I thought it would be apt that we explore the fundamental question: Why did Jesus Christ have to die in the first place? This question is often asked by someone who is exploring the Christian faith and I am wondering how many of us, long-time Christians, really know the answer. The answer to this question actually lies at the heart of our Christian faith and reveals the depth of God's love for humanity and His plan for our redemption............... Read More > |

LENT 2024 Lent is the period of penitential preparation for Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday. This year, Lent is from 14 February to 30 March. We invite you to participate more fully in Lent through the following. DAILY DEVOTIONS “Ever Changing World. Never Changing Word” is this year’s Lenten daily devotional guide published by The Bible Society of Singapore. It contains daily devotionals from 14 February - 31 March 2024. An e-version is available daily from The Bible Church App. COMMUNITY GUIDED JOURNAL As one of our church focus areas this year is “community”, we are also encouraging worshippers to use Lent as an opportunity to deepen relationships within community. To this end, we are providing a community guided journal for Lent which contains a weekly devotional thought, space to journal our reflections, and prayer pointers (Please click here for the journal). We encourage you to find a prayer buddy or form a prayer group and pray together weekly during Lent. RETREAT CENTRE To facilitate an extended time of reflection this Lent season, the church is opening up the studio at 1A Jubilee Road to be booked for personal retreats. While we may be familiar with retreats involving structured worship sessions, a speaker and discussions, a personal retreat is slightly different. It is a practice of setting aside time and space to focus on your relationship with God and how this relationship impacts your overall well-being. The extended time spent isn’t necessarily about intense Bible study, but more about being intentionally present with the Lord. The goal of a personal retreat is to become a lover of God, to be loved by him, and to be open to the Spirit’s leading. If you are interested, please click here and indicate your preference of start and end date (starting 14 February 2024 [Ash Wednesday] to 31 March 2024 [Easter Sunday]), and await our confirmation. There will be a recommended love gift to help cover the cleaning and use of the studio. For more information, please contact Tan Beng Hwee at benghwee@biblechurch.sg or Leong Pei De at leongpeide@gmail.com. |

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND APPRECIATION The late Mdm Ng Seok Cheng was called home to be with the Lord on 18 January 2024. She came to know the Lord through the earnest witness of her daughter, the late Cheoh Beng Choo, who passed on two decades ago. Mdm Ng had a simple faith in God, acknowledging God's care and protection for her in her frailty. Aunty was blessed with her son-in-law, Chee Teng, who looked after her, bringing her to church through the years. Her care and concern for the welfare of her family is a rich legacy. In memory of his late mother-in-law, Chee Teng has presented the church a gift of $10,000 to the Cheoh Beng Choo Theological Education Fund. The church is richly blessed to have Mdm Ng as part of our Chinese Ministry community all these years. We thank God for her generosity and love in bequeathing this sum for the purposes of theological education for existing and potential Bible Church workers. CONDOLENCES Our condolences to the family of Mr Anthony Ho Yep Seng on his home calling on 18 February 2024. He was the beloved husband of Maureen Ho and the father of Simon Ho. The family would like to thank members and friends for their prayers, visits and condolences. 20 YEARS LONG SERVICE AWARD We congratulate Angela Ong for completing 20 years of service with the church. She joined us on 1 January 2004, and has been involved in the Children and Ladies Ministries. Please join us to thank God for her and her family, and pray that the Lord will grant her wisdom and good health as she continues to serve God and the church. Elder Lynette Shek (on behalf of The Bible Church Council) STAFF MOVEMENT 1. Janet Tan will be on leave from 25 February to 3 March 2024. 2. Camp Fees: |

|
This year, the church is absorbing a portion of the camp fees & coach fares to ease the financial burden for our campers as we recognise the importance of the community coming together for spiritual growth and fellowship. The camp fees are higher due to the following reasons: Overall increase in costs, including hotel rates in Malaysia. An unexpected rise in the service tax in March 2024. Last year's camp rate was calculated based on 4 days and 3 nights using pre-covid rates. However, this year's camp will extend to 5 days and 4 nights.
Future Camps: To better plan your schedule, please note that future church camps will be held in alternate years. The next camp is scheduled for 2026. Registration: Secure your spot for this transformative experience by signing up at http://camp.biblechurch.sg before 15 April 2024. FAQs and Contact: For more details, click here for the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). Should you have any additional questions, feel free to contact Alex Heng at alexheng33@gmail.com. We eagerly anticipate your participation at Church Camp 2024 and look forward to a spiritually uplifting and empowering time together. SIGN UP NOW! |
