There was a comedy night yesterday which is set to become a regular event; there's a second salsa night this week; and the live music seems to be picking up as well, so let's hope that this continues. Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch Nuga in Rosmead Place have a brunch menu available at weekends from 8am to 2pm, with a selection of western or Sri Lankan breakfast and brunch dishes to order a la carte. If you prefer a a Sunday Brunch buffet, Pranzo at Water's Edge has one where you can sit inside, or outside overlooking the lake. It's on Sundays from 11.30am to 2.30pm and is priced at Rs4,675 for adults, Rs2480 for kids from 5 to 11. Under 5s are free. Steamboat are offering a midweek lunch pack with egg fried rice or noodles, one meat, vegetable chop suey and chili paste for low price of Rs480. | | |

High Tea and Dinner The ME Colombo have a High Tea platter with two tiers of assorted savoury and sweet treats and a cup of tea or coffee. It's available daily from 3.00pm to 5.00pm and priced at Rs1,700 per person. The Hilton Colombo Residence have also introduced a High Tea platter, with three tiers of luxury treats, priced at Rs4,800 for two people. This is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 3.00pm to 6.30pm and should be ordered 12 hours in advance. There's a "Rib Fest" at Water's Edge this weekend, with a Pork Rib platter for Rs2,100 and Beef Rib platter for Rs2,300. Each includes four style of rib. The Rib Fest is from 7pm until 30 April. The Fishery restaurant at Pegasus Reef now has live jazz on a Friday evening so you can enjoy some smooth sounds with your seafood supper. Grand Slam by Mitsi has some new Pizza and Beer offers. You can get two beers, a 9" Margherita pizza and fries for Rs2,200 or four beers, a 13" Margherita and fries for Rs4,300. This offer is available from 5pm to 10pm daily. | | |

Happy Hours & Ladies' Night Honey Beach Cub at the Kingsbury have Happy Hour deals, with buy one, get one free on selected beers and cocktails. This is daily at the usual times, 5pm to 7pm. It's not formally a Ladies' Night but this Friday at The Travelling Bruncher there's free shots for ladies 7pm to 8pm. | | |

Live Music and DJs There's a nice wide mix of music this weekend. The Chamber Music Society of Colombo have a performance on Friday, featuring guest violinist Olga Sroubkova. They will play concertos by Bach and Mozart and a symphony by Haydn. The performance starts at 7.30pm. And on Saturday there's something for Jazz fans, with Gyles and Q and the band playing at Colombo City Centre ground floor Atrium at 6.30pm. For the full list of which band is playing where, please see our gig diary. However, for a few highlights, on Friday you can catch OiC at Colombar; Link at The Irish; Freeze at Butler's; Magic Box Mixup at Curve and The Neighbours at Taphouse. On Saturday Mirage are at Curve; Ishini & the Branch at In on the Green; Cold Sweat at The Joint; and The Notion at Taphouse. On Friday, Zouk are combining live band and DJs, with a live performance by Infinity plus sets by five DJs. Also on Friday, DJ Dmitry Molosh is back for a long awaited performance at Club Lavix, with DJs Darius, Kyotto, Yomal and more. Meanwhile "Forbidden Fruit" at Kava features six DJs including Dr Green, Music Director, Clifford Isaac and more. And at Bro Club, DJs Bonnie and Kosala are getting groovy with tunes from 80s, 90s and the early 00s. Other Events "Orenda" is a Visual Art Exhibition on Friday and Saturday at the Lionel Wendt Gallery featuring works by almost a dozen young, Sri Lankan artists. The gallery is open from 9am to 7pm. There is an Eid Market this week at One Galle Face, on Ocean Avenue, offering a range of seasonal sweets, gifts, clothes and more, including Mehendi henna hand art. It is open from 10am to 10pm daily Wednesday 3May. Salsa Dancing is back at The Irish on Saturday, so head on over to enjoy some Bachata, Kizomba and more. there's also buy one, get one free on selected cocktails from 9.20pm until midnight. For something less energetic, on Saturday there's a games night at Holybelly with board and card games for adults plus music. It starts at 4pm. | | |
