Ballarat Foto

The 2021 Ballarat International Foto Biennale starts 28 August! One of the handful of huge photo events in Australia. Headlining this year is Linda McCartney, one of the foremost music photographers, she had access and a way of photographing that allowed her to bring different emotions from her subjects. Yes she married Paul, but the work before this was very impressive. She lead the way for Annie Leibovitz.

COLLECTING PHOTOGRAPHY

A fund raiser for ishkar who describes themselves part of their mission;

In war-torn countries the vast majority of professional photographers work for news agencies. This means their work is often focused on coverage of conflict. Our project is motivated by the opportunity to give talented photographers an entirely new outlet for their work. Through this project we hope to reveal a side to war-torn countries rarely seen in the international media.

Includes prints by Andrew Quilty

We do what humans have done forever: trading objects, telling stories and travelling beyond our own frontiers

DISCOVERY

The Association of Street Photographers, organisers of the 'Shot in the Heart of Melbourne' Exhibition an opportunity to get involved with like minded people and do more than instagram.

Mark Chew is a Melbourne based international photo documentary photographer.

Member Galleries - Australian Association of Street Photographers Inc.

Although I enjoy all genres of photography and like trying new techniques, my passion lies with street photography. It's a form of photography that allows me to practice almost every day, embraces the unexpected, allows a certain amount of preparation, but then relies on chance, and always throws up surprises on image review.

recent projects - MARK CHEW PHOTOGRAPHY

There are pros and cons in undertaking a multi-day walk in the middle of winter. You get the best campsite, your footprints are the only ones on the beach, and the wallabies look at you like you're crazy before returning to their grazing, rather than bounding off into to undergrowth.

Instagram accounts to check out:

@mohammed.sh.photographer - a commercial photographer, lots of food, based in Gaza. Also documents daily life from a optimistic point of view. His portraits are outstanding.
