WOMEN IN BLUE - 2021 - Wednesday, March 24 at 6 pm |
|
|
Join us on the evening of March 24 for our annual Women in Blue event via zoom. While we aren't able to gather on the steps of the Capitol, we are able to zoom together and share our experiences as Democratic women in Arkansas and learn from one another how to keep moving forward. During our zoom event, you'll get to meet the AFDW leadership team and hear more about what AFDW is doing and how you can get involved! The DNC Women’s Caucus Chairwoman Lottie Shackleford will be our featured speaker. DPA Vice Chairwoman Nicole Hart will provide an update on the ramp-up for the 2022 elections, and we’ll hear from many Democratic Women county organizations and leaders elected throughout the state. We'll have time to go "around the zoom" and if you feel like sharing what it means to YOU to be a Democratic woman in Arkansas, we'd love to hear it. This free event will be via zoom only (not FB live). If you still need to register, please click HERE. Invite your friends to participate via Facebook: https://fb.me/e/TDiqzQyX |

AFDW stands with the AAPI Community |
|
|
Together we grieve the murders of Hyun Jung Grant, Xiaojie Tan, Daoyou Feng, Soon Chung Park, Suncha Kim, Yong Ae Yue, Paul Andre Michels & Delaina Ashley Yaun The rise in anti-Asian violence and the history of violence, xenophobia, and misogyny that are baked into our country's narrative - it must end. We rise together, for a better community, a better country, and a better world. |

HOW YOU CAN HELP It’s up to us to look out for one another. If you witness discrimination or a hate crime against Asian Americans or any other group, please speak up and say something. #StopAsianHate #AsianAmerican #pacificislander #AAPI #HateIsAVirus WHAT'S NEXT? The Biden-Harris Administration has designated Friday, March 26, 2021, as the Day Against Anti-Asian Discrimination and Hate. In solidarity, the AAPI Democratic Caucus of Arkansas is hosting a virtual town hall with community leaders and partner organizations regarding the growing hate crimes against Asian Americans. Everyone is invited to attend this candid discussion on the recent rash of violence against Asian Americans -- what's causing it, what we can do as a community to protect ourselves, how our white, Black, and Hispanic allies can be aware of what's happening to our AAPI communities and support them, and how you can report any racism or hate crimes against Asian Americans that you may witness. Please visit the AAPI Facebook page for more details: Asian American Pacific Islander Democratic Caucus of Arkansas: https://www.facebook.com/AAPIDemsofAR |

Behind the Scenes! We need your help to track bills, organize information, and support the information that needs to be shared. COMMITTEES OF AFDW - Rules, Resolutions, and Revisions - review the Bylaws annually and make recommendations to the Executive Board
- Programming - works to plan programming throughout the year and the AFDW annual convention every August
- Fundraising - planning and implementing fundraising events
- County auxiliary expansion - shall work with counties not yet affiliated to kick off affiliation and monitor progress, reporting, start-up, etc.
- Candidate recruitment - as simple as asking your friends and neighbors to run for office and helping them get the tools they need to move forward with filing
Additional work being done by volunteers - Track Bills - we have a digital log of bills that are filed each week. Can you help by researching a few and adding notes and key points?
- Organize Data - we're making it easier to contact different committees and groups. Can you help with some data entry work?
- Communications - Share and Create Content - we want to make sure no matter where you are online or not, you can get up-to-date information from AFDW. We need members to share from our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts to their own pages and groups to help signal boost and amplify.
- Just click that SHARE button anytime you see new material.
- Share the information when you're talking to your friends on the phone or safely if you are gathering with friends or family.
- Register Voters - it's never too early to register to VOTE. Be sure to ask everyone you know if they are registered and ask them to confirm their voter information is still accurate. You can do this by visiting VoterView.
