This Victoria Secular Humanist Association features speaker Yves Mayrand, the author of several submissions on current public policy issues in B.C. over the last four years. Mayrand will summarize in a half-hour PowerPoint presentation the protracted journey on public policies respecting the protection of biodiversity, species at risk and their habitat in British Columbia, and the urgent need for government to finally “walk the talk" with the tabling of government bills for new provincial legislation. A question and discussion period will follow. Mayrand, with a professional background in law and business, will include detailed comment on the B.C. Conservation Financing Mechanism (BCCFM), the Tripartite Framework Agreement on Nature Conservation between Canada, British Columbia and the First Nations Leadership Council (Tripartite Agreement), and the draft B.C. Biodiversity and Ecosystem Health Framework (BEHF). Free, donations welcome. |
