Join Us for the 1st Thursday Artwalk on June 6!

This is your last chance to see our pop-up exhibit at Paseo Nuevo Mall. We welcome guests from all walks of life to celebrate the artistic craftsmanship of an American fashion icon, James Galanos. Explore his exquisite museum dresses created in his 1950s Los Angeles studio up close, and see reconstructed costumes created from his complete set of 1956 sewing patterns released through McCalls. This has never been done in history before.

For those with mobility issues, we recommend parking at 716 Chapala, Santa Barbara.

This garage has a working elevator. (The other garage off Chapala has stairs only). Free 75-min parking

Workzones is conveniently located near Captain Fattie's. The entrance is across from Footlocker and Bruxies Chicken. Look for signs.

Also - we are excited to share with you that we are on the cover of the Downtown Santa Barbara Passport! The cover photo features model Whilelmina Cooper wearing one of the stunning dresses in our exhibition. Be sure to click on the passport below to explore other participating venues and plan for a vibrant evening full of art and culture.

Surprise Bonus Dress!

There will be a special surprise at our pop-up exhibit—a new museum acquisition that has never been exhibited before! This stunning green chiffon dress, featuring a dramatic Watteau back, is designed by the legendary James Galanos, early in his career. Early James Galanos dresses are nearly impossible to find. The heavily beaded dress, made from approximately 100 yards of chiffon fabric, comes from the estate of one of Edith Head's seamstresses at Paramount Pictures.

The MET has a similar silhouette in their collection, dated circa 1952. An almost identical silhouette was famously worn by Nancy Reagan during a state dinner with Margaret Thatcher in 1981. This extraordinary piece must be seen in person!

Check Us Out on Siteline

It is an honor to be included in Siteline's Odds and Ends section by Erik Torkels. Siteline is an upscale, highly curated news site for Montecito and Santa Barbara residents. The culture at the Couture Pattern Museum is exclusive while being inclusive—haute couture meets democratization, elegant yet accessible, and approachable as an art form. We focus on craftsmanship, conservation, and history, which transcends societal boundaries. There is something for everyone at our exhibitions. You should not feel intimidated; you will be welcomed as you are!

ARTS District Mixer and Fundraiser for Children's Creative Project

We proudly contributed to the ARTS District raffle during the annual fundraiser for the Children's Creative Project at the Arts District mixer. To celebrate the event, our Founder wore a timeless Ralph Rucci dress originally created for philanthropist, fashion icon, and Andy Warhol muse, Deeda Blair. We are gradually collecting Ralph Rucci's ensembles to curate a special exhibition on him in the future. Students and researchers can visit the museum to examine the techniques used in his atelier through up-close study of his clothes and patterns in our collection. Ralph Rucci is a living legend of couture and has made a significant impact on American fashion history.
