After more than a year aging in a farmhouse in rural Harrison County, KY, we are planning to release our Newberry Bros. Coffee & Prohibition Bourbon Bar to the public for the first time on the first full weekend in May. And just like any experimental whiskey aging in a warehouse, our release comes with some unique characteristics and experimental changes. In the wonderful world of experimental whiskey, the taste profile for each experiment is uniquely its own depending on the mash bill, barrel treatment, warehouse environment and age. We believe the same to be true when reopening our bourbon bar after a 14-month hiatus. So we’ll use the same terminology in announcing the details of our release: |

We will be open on Friday & Saturday nights, beginning the weekend of May 7th & 8th, reservations only, with available seating (for two hour blocks) at 6PM -or- 9PM. Our menu will feature an exceptional selection of whiskeys, cocktails, wine, beer, and coffee & espresso drinks. Our popular small plates and desserts will be back, but no more happy hour drink prices, because our drink specials will be available all night long. |

Reservations will allow us to follow COVID-related restrictions in place for bars in Kentucky with respect to occupancy and safety. (Yes, masks will be required unless you are seated at your table.) The good news is that fewer tables means that we will have more time to devote to you, so we can make your experience more personal and unique. Celebrating a special occasion? Let us know. We will be seating everyone outside on our patio and at café tables, unless inclement weather forces us inside. Our menu will be available on our website so you can peruse before you choose. With reservation times of 6PM -or- 9PM, you have the option of enjoying drinks before dinner – or after dinner. Better yet, you can nosh on our small plates and desserts. Or help us support another small business in Newport, by ordering off the Pompilio’s Menu as take out to enjoy at your table. |

Located in Newport, Kentucky (in what used to be a pharmacy back in the late 1800’s), the Prohibition Bourbon Bar is tucked in the back room of our coffee roastery & bakery, which opened in 2013. The bar doesn’t require a secret password, but it does feature the world’s largest collection of bourbon and rye whiskeys – thousands of them – including several of the rarest, well-aged whiskeys you’ll find anywhere. And because we are the “PAPPYiest Place on Earth” (with t-shirts to prove it), of course we have all of the Pappy expressions. |
