Happy May Everyone!
Thank you for praying for us! We have seen the fruit of it for sure! In our trip with our team to DCI we saw 6 men commit their lives to Christ, and again there were 4 youthful offenders in that group. Praise God for that! The State of Louisiana is going through some serious prison reform. They are allowing some of the inmates, who have proven themselves over time and have served the majority of their sentences, to go back home. We know quite a few of them, and all we know are saved and worthy of a second chance.
A lot of them have gone to seminary in Angola Prison and transferred to DCI as pastors. They are preparing to go back home to families that want to care for them.
One of the main prisoner patriarchs, who has been in prison for 49 years and is 87 years old, is going back home to his family. They are all ecstatic, as you can imagine. He has been an important mentor for the prisoners at DCI. He went to seminary school years ago and ALL the inmates look up to him and love him dearly, as do we. However, that leads DCI into a problem that we must ask you to help us pray over. The spiritual leaders are mainly the ones that are being allowed early release because of their exemplary behavior. This will leave a huge spiritual void in the prison. They will need new spiritual leaders to be discipled and matured into great men of God, as the ones that are leaving now are. There are still many that are saved and growing in their faith there, so that is our request for you: to pray them into leadership positions! Also, they need another suitable Chaplain to oversee them all. So, please pray for God’s Spirit to continue to move. Remember, God searches for one who will pray. Let’s unleash His power again through prayer! To God be the glory!
From my Bible study this week on Believing God, I want to continue on with a thought from the newsletter last month…believing God’s word. Our mouth has been given power by the Holy Spirit when we speak God’s word out loud. Did you know that? 2 Corinthians 4:13 says, “Having the same spirit (‘breath’) of faith, according to what is written, ‘I BELIEVED, THEREFORE I SPOKE’; we also believe, therefore we also speak…” 1 Thess 2:13 says “…the word of God, also performs its work in you who believe.” Isaiah 55:11 says, “...so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it”. When God speaks, it is omnipotent; but when we speak, it is still potent!
Are you battling a mountain that needs to be moved? Let’s speak God’s promises into our situations! Satan can not read our minds, but he can hear our words. Just remember, when we speak God’s word out loud, it sounds like God to the devil! By God’s words, let’s overpower the schemes of our enemy. Let’s practice our Biblical authority… as it is written… as Jesus did! Hallelujah!
Go in Spirit and truth and power brothers and sisters!
In His Peace,
Ken and Cindy
