Words from the President February thru mid-March were busy for your HOA. The annual garage sale was a big success as over 1000 potential buyers visited member’s tables. Thanks to all who attended! The Eagle Court swale restoration project was completed and work started on culvert repairs. You may have noticed that the deteriorating corrugated metal pipes are being replace with concrete culverts. These new culverts have life expectancies exceeding 100 years. The HOA Board is always looking for volunteers. This past month volunteers once again decorated the front entrance and others removed debris from the ditch between Lakes Clara and Elaine. Any time you have to offer is appreciated as there are many projects and committees that can use your help. Thank you for choosing to live here and supporting the Board’s attempt to keep Golf Hammock a desirable place to live! George Kibe President GHOA |

Words from the Secretary I want to extend much appreciation for all I have received regarding the newsletter and secretarial duties. It is a time consuming job and positive feedback that is given to any board member is greatly appreciated. My hope is that if you are reading this newsletter, it was sent directly to your email account! This means that you in fact have registered on our website www.ghoaonline.com/. In doing so, the newsletter and any shout outs are directed right to your email, thus using our website as a point of reference for needed documents or additional information. It is very important that you continue to open your email to read the newsletter and shout outs. The system monitors this procedure and if you don’t for some reason open up the email after a number of given days (usually 60) your address may become dormant and thus deleted as the system thinks that the address is no longer valid. Please understand that I along with Ruthie, our webmaster are continually working to make attaining the newsletter and shout outs an easy process as well as Golf Hammock’s website as user friendly and eye pleasing as possible. I was recently asked by a new resident “what is a “shout-out”? Shout-Outs are a timely e-mail communication from the GHOA to its members regarding a safety or security concern or an upcoming event, situation or condition that is likely to have broad, community-wide impact or interest. I am also glad to hear that some members are printing out the newsletter for neighbors that don’t have access to a computer. This is so exciting! I hope that they would pass along the shoutout information as well. What a good-neighbor type behavior we all can appreciate! I do print a text only version of the newsletter and hang it in the display case outside the activity center. This version does not have all the nice pictures however; the information is available that way as well. Once again, please reach out to me at debsteuer@yahoo.com. If you have any questions or concerns I will try to help you the best I can, otherwise I will direct you to someone that can further assist you. Thank you for your support. DebSteuer |

Words from the Treasurer The time it is taking for your check to clear your bank may be one of many issues that I have noticed in gathering assessments. Gathering the mail on a daily basis, checks being submitted through the USPS are taking up to 7 days or longer for delivery. Example, checks dated the 3/1/2018 were not received until after 3/07/2018. Local mailing travels through the Tampa post office and back into Sebring for delivery. Checks that are being processed thru your bill pay service are not arriving on the date that the checks are written or perhaps guaranteed to arrive , example checks dated 3/15/2018 did not arrive until 3/16/2018. Once received, payments are then processed for deposit, potentially adding an additional week or longer depending on our accountant and your bank’s processing time. Posting dating of checks has caused issues with our financial institution – they will not accept them. Again this adds time and confusion to accurate record keeping. If you have concerns about your check, please understand first and foremost mailing in a check written correctly is taking over a week to arrive plus additional processing time. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you, Roger Steuer |

- There is a community bulletin board type site at www.nextdoor.com for Golf Hammock residents and surrounding areas. Check out this site for various garage sales posting, people looking for various service type things, general informative information.
- The architectural chairman is Roger Steuer roger.steuer@yahoo.com. If you are making changes to the appearance of your home send an email making him and the association aware of your project. This avoids unnecessary wondering or concern as to why perhaps equipment, trailers, workers are seen one your property as well as verifying that you project is within the guideline of the stated rules and regulations. Sheds or other structures need building permits according to the Highland County building and zoning departments. Again depending on the structure, rear, side and front have certain setbacks. This only protects you as a homeowner. You can contact the building department for more information.
- The violations/complaint chairman is Bob Schroeder, bobs1501@outlook.com if you are aware of a possible violation/complaint. Please remember an official complaint starts with filling out a complaint form. These forms are available on our website. If you have a question or concern please direct those to him and he will do his best to look into the matter.
Trash Cans!!! - Recalling the February 12, 2018 board meeting, it was voted to activate Article 9 compliance requirements. A recent survey of the community reflected a number of residents still have not taken the initiative to achieve compliance. The violation/complaint committee will distribute a flyer to property owners in violation. These property owners are encouraged to take the required actions to comply. Many of these flyers have been distributed and many have made necessary accommodations for the trash can requirements.
- Compliance can be achieved using various methods of screening such as lattice, block or various landscaping with a hedge or shrubs. One option for garage storage is exchange the cans for smaller containers– contact the garbage company for those options.
- Having the trash containers sitting in plain view, such as in the front of the garage, or on the side of the house is not acceptable and such be corrected immediately. Flyers will continue to be distributed throughout March 2018 and official violation letters with begin soon after.
- The committee/board hopes each property owner wishes to help maintain our community appearance and reputation.
- Remember looking trashy has a negative effect on the attraction and the salability of our community.
If you have questions or concerns please contact Bob Schroeder, violations/complaints chairman at 863-402-5486 or email bobs1501@outlook.com. |
