Software, Tools and Services Beyond EO |
One year ago, on the first of July, I started my self-employment, and it was an exciting year. Full of interesting work, thoughts about what to do next and doubts about whether I'm going down the right path. But I enjoyed every day. This was only the beginning and I hope I can go this route for a long time. But for now, I only look into the short-term future. And I think I can release exiting software, data, and services in the coming months. Stay tuned, and if you'd like to do me a favour for EOMaster's birthday, please spread the word that EOMasters offers excellent software, knowledge and support. |

You Can Support Me on Ko-Fi |
This is something I feel a bit uncomfortable with. I have created a Ko-fi account to give you the option to show your appreciation for the things I offer for free. |
Nothing obligatory - you choose. Your support is appreciated, but never expected. |

Earthcare Satellite Records a Cloud Image for the First Time |
The first image from the EarthCARE satellite, obtained east of Japan on June 13th by the Cloud Profiling Radar instrument, showed the interior structure of clouds. The three European instruments – the broadband radiometer, the atmospheric lidar and the multispectral imager – will provide first data in the next weeks and months. |

GeoPandas 1.0 is Released |
GeoPandas is now a grown up. It has been released as 1.0 version. The main improvement in this version are Simplified Geometry Engine: GeoPandas now exclusively supports Shapely 2, removing the complexity of supporting multiple geometry engines. Improved Performance: Replaced scalar-based Fiona with vectorised PyOGRIO for better I/O performance. API Parity: Achieved API parity with Shapely, exposing all relevant functions as GeoPandas methods2. Future Plans: Introducing support for spherical geometry with the S2 engine, breaking the limitation of GEOS restricted to the Euclidean plane
Make sure to read the blog of Martin Fleischmann. He describes well what has been done and why it is important. |
