Restoring Respect through Music Education (RRME)

Summary

RRME aims to tackle discriminatory behaviour by adopting the ‘El Sistema’ music programme to include the underlying values of restorative justice of equality, social inclusion, diversity, power-sharing and non-discrimination. The program will produce an innovative training program for educationalists to support them in their efforts to integrate pupils and young people who are at risk of exclusion, with a particular focus on those from migrant and refugee backgrounds.

Update

The RRME partnership is currently 6 months into the 25-month project, so far we have been able to work effectively together and have produced our first set of deliverable outputs in the form of contextual research relating to each partner’s nation. These reports will provide a starting point for our next challenge, which is to draft a series of modules which when combined will form the core of the face-to-face training program.

Harry Bloodworth, Project Officer, said:

'The RRME partnership has been able to effectively navigate the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and is on course to deliver our innovative training program. To produce the most effective program possible we welcome any interest and input on our project!'

Restorative Dialogue against Violent Radicalisation (RDaVR)

Background

There is an increasing phenomenon of violent radicalisation, extremism and nationalism across Europe, with a need for a new approach that will help to prevent young people from engaging in these violent activities.

Restorative Dialogue Against Violent Radicalisation (RDaVR) is a project built on the concepts of dialogue and restorative justice and aims to prevent violent radicalisation and extremism amongst young people across Europe.

The project is built on the expertise and experience of seven organisations across six Erasmus countries, which together will develop, pilot and disseminate an innovative model that will improve the knowledge and confidence of professionals working with those at risk of becoming radicalised.
