It’s hard to believe September is almost here, when it feels like summer just got into full swing! I'm savoring summer's final weeks, and included a favorite Mary Oliver poem, The Summer Day, at the very bottom. September always greets me with nostalgia for childhood back-to-school excitement (I can still recall the smell of freshly shaved pencils and new Trapper Keepers) and special dinners for the Jewish New Year at my grandparents' (what I would do for one more night with them). Autumn colors announce the change of seasons and falling leaves inspire letting go, reminding us that endings mark new beginnings! One new chapter that I am especially excited about is today's launch of my Substack, Moonlight Musings, focused on integrated, embodied, conscious leadership perspectives and reflections on the power of midlife awakenings and other liminal spaces as fertile ground for transformation. My substack is inspired by the haiku, "Since my house burned down, I now have a better view of the rising moon” written by 17th Century samurai and poet Mizuta Masahide, which served as a beacon of hope during my own metamorphosis. I would love for you to join me! For summer highlights, I had the pleasure of visiting New Mexico (aptly called the Land of Enchantment) in July to attend a retreat with a most dynamic duo: Pico Iyer, writer and speaker, and Chip Conley, Founder of Modern Elder Academy. While there, I enjoyed a powerful equine coaching session with Kelly Wendorf (highly recommend her book, Flying Lead Change). I recently reveled in a visit with family in Northern California, awash in awe and wonder at the sight of giant sequoias and in celebrating my parents' 56th wedding anniversary. Looking ahead, I am delighted to be offering a third cohort of my Restore, Reclaim, Reignite group coaching program (virtual) starting in December, with a third annual Provence retreat set for May 25 - June 1, 2025, in addition to my standard coaching offerings. I am grateful for continued partnerships with CHIEF, Evolution, Ask a Chief of Staff, and the Sabbatical Project, along with serving as an Advisor for SpeakUp Now and the Nova. See below for more details and reply to this message if you're curious to learn more. I would be grateful if you would pass along my offerings to your network, as my business is primarily by word of mouth. As always, thank you for being such a special part of my community.🤍 |

The Summer Day by Mary Oliver Who made the world? Who made the swan, and the black bear? Who made the grasshopper? This grasshopper, I mean— the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand, who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down— who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes. Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face. Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away. I don't know exactly what a prayer is. I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day. Tell me, what else should I have done? Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
